Actually, it is the E55. That plus adapter is a heck of a lot smaller than my Summicron-R 90 plus adapter. Everything's relative, Gary.
So true! In the land of m-mount lenses most consider it fairly large and heavy. I actually like the heft of it! Very nice lens BTW.

Hi Piere.
If the converter doesnt work too well, you might consider removeing the glass elements, and you will have a focusing heilcoid extension ture. I did that on one of my Vivitar 2X macro focusing converters, and use it on my FDn 400. Just a thought.
Cheers

Nice, Jim. How's it shoot on the a900?
After shooting with a lot of 40mm-ish lenses, I couldn't find anything that I liked more than the Canon LTM 35/2 I used to have, so I picked up one off the boards. Now I'm going back and forth on the Hawks adapter. 1m is a long MFD for a 50mm equivalent.

still getting used to the thick DOF. I have the type M screen, but the thick DOF from the slow f/2.8 aperature combined with the ultra wide FOV make nailing focus take practice. I haven't really had the opportunity to test the lens IQ yet, but seems to have decent resolution & contrast, better than the minolta 20/2.8, and as i recall in an earlier test thread here on FM alt when compared to the zeiss 21/2.8 at the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts, it held its own. it does vignette a little which i think is fine and as predicted the focusing scale is way off. i do intend on chipping it soon. it balances pretty well in terms of weight, and is good in terms of plastics go. as FlyPenFly said, it's not very good as a precision instrument, guessing as compared to his 21/2.8, but I think its fine if you 'recalibrate' the focusing scale.

Congrats, Dale. Personally, I think letting that lens go out of production was the biggest tragedy of the R-line failure. So there's only a finite amount of them but, fortunately, they're all built like tanks and should be around for a while.

Broke down and bought the Leica 100mm APO Macro-R.
I really want this one.
But lately, actually for a number of months now, I have been drawn to the dark side, 4x5 film.
The "disease" is worsening, I continue to buy old lenses for my Sinar f2.

Perhaps one of the one that is coming from Greece.
A Taylor-Hobson Cooke Series III 4.4" in a Koilos shutter.
I've posted a few film photos, not lenses, in the film thread here.
I really "need" a better scanner.
God help me, as I've even been eyeing drum scanners...
