Get the standard Acute Matte for the 500 C/M. Nice camera! I think I will buy the chrome version of the same at some point. Classic feel. Not the best camera or lens, but wonderful in use and a beauty to behold.

I see weak 3D in the first shot, and none in the second. Perhaps you see more because you can see larger versions?

Initially I wanted the chrome too, but I changed my mind as soon as I saw the black one. It looks more like a tool than a jewel, so to speak.
"The best" camera and/or lens doesn't exist in my world, so it's alway about what fits the purpose best. I traded my Bessa III for the HBL (plus some cash of course), and I intend to use them for the same purpose, which is everyday use with good portability. The Bessa was great, but I like strict compositions and a modular system. Every MF lens I've tried has been good enough optically, so the Planar is probably just the same.

Funny, because I see the opposite. Probably just different definitions of "3D". I mean the sort that doesn't have anything with short DOF to do.
Perhaps it's because I know how my psychedelic table look in real life.

I mean the sort of 3D which makes an object in a photograph look like you could reach in and feel the shape.

Found any likely suspects? I just purchased an old Contax Sonnar 50/1.5 in Contax mount that needs a backend.

A Topcon UV mount + NEX C-Mount adapter, then a 50/2 lens, stripped of it's optical block has a chance, it could be useful for other glass such as 50mm enlargers.
mock up:
c-mount adapter + the camera mount + the focus section of the lens.

Voigtlander APO Lanthar 125mm f/2.5 Macro For Nikon.

And immediately for sale too. It's fun buying these lenses which are too expensive for me to keep. It's like hurry up and take as many pics as possible before a buyer comes along.

Nice.

Pertaining to the above mentioned Contax Sonnar 50/1.5 in Contax mount, all I can say is everybody is allowed to get burnt just once. My long anticipated Sonnar really came up empty. First photo shows a very clean lens, as I discovered the defect when finishing a complete CLA. The hint of a problem is the fact that the aperture blade hinges are too visible and the wide open aperture is rather small diameter for a f/1.5 lens.

The Sonnar has a triplet behind the aperture and a triplet in front of the aperture, and a single element in front. Suspiciously, the front element is without cleaning marks, as this was a "bargain" lens.

Well, the clincher is the fact that there was no triplet in front of the aperture! Look at all the room in there. I filed an incident claim with ebay, because the seller is unwilling to take it back. If they don't refund my money, I will post their ebay username so no one else will get taken, not that the seller even hangs out with fine folks like the FM crowd.

Heres a purchase ( cheap ) , from a flea market this past Saturday. Its a Sony TV Zoom, 20-80, F2.5-F22, about 31/2 foot MFD, rear mount is screw thread ( about 25MM ), front thread is 52MM and lens length is about 4 1/2 inches. Usable ? or another White Elephant ? Comments or ideas welcomed.

Hey, Harry. The C-mounts are usable on m4/3s. I think there's some vignetting on them still (there was on the 12mm I tried, but it might not be such a problem with longer lenses). You can use them on the new Nikon mirrorless, likely without vignetting, if you can find an adapter. On all larger sensors, you're going to crop away a good percentage of the frame.

Contarex has a register of 46, so it should be no problem so long as the adapter doesn't screw things up.

I received the box of Contarex stuff today, and was very disappointed that the legendary 21mm f4.5 Biogon can NOT be mounted on NEX with the Kipon adapter, as the rear element protrudes too far in to the housing. It could probobly be modified to fit, because it has a large rotating plate at the rear, which maybe could be trimmed much smaller or even removed. It would of course completely destroy its value to collectors, and with only 4000 of these lenses ever produced, it would be almost illegal

The 50mm and 85mm were also in absolute mint condition. While I know the 50 quite well, as this is my third copy, the 85 is new to me. I took a few quick snapshots to try it out, and it's simply unbelivable, I have never seen anything like it. I'll show you what I mean in the coming days

+1 (thou mine comes with STA1 tripod collar)

Since it seems Zeiss is not going to add teles to ZE/ZF-series, and even they would it would not make for this summer. I got bored waiting and just paid this (and Leitax mount). I hope this ends my long lasting journey to find 180-200mm lens with rendering style I can live with (tried and abandoned EF 200/2, EF 200/2.8, EF180/3.5, EF70-200/2.8ISmkI, EF70-200/4, Contax 200/3.5, Contax 4/80-200 and Leica 80-200/4 - Liked mostly the Contax lenses' drawing styles, but they were not great performers on other areas).

So if Zeiss is ever going to make tele ZE/ZF lenses, they will announce it tomorrow

Congratulations! I really hope you will like the Leica rendering style. It really isn't like the Zeiss lenses, more flat, but in all other ways, it is at least as good. I have the 180/2 which is apparently very similar to this, and love it.

Will see, Leica 80-200 was very very close (worked in short end of zoom sometimes), and changes are that I like 180/2.8 better - I have many Leica lenses and I shoot with them, not as frequently as with Zeiss and mostly different subjects, but for some purposes e.g. abstracts there are benefits of Leica-like bokeh (thou I just shoot abstracts with planar 85 last week). The Zeiss logo in my avatar is just to annoy Canikon fanboys...

Hopefully I've found a third party hood that won't show up in the frame on the Zuiko Pen-FT 25/2.8. Fingers crossed.

And the Summicron-M 90 showed up yesterday. So small and beautiful on the NEX-7.

I will be interested to see how this lens performs on the NEX-7....
