I have a Dkl to sony e mount adapter which works fine with my SK retina 50/1.9 35/2.8 and 135/4 (including f/1.9 on the 50. It's only marked on the ring to f/2 but in opens up beyond that). It a cheap one from eBay and aperture setting doesn't operate terribly smoothly but works accurately. Don't remember where I bought it but I can send you a picture of it if you want.

May somebody please post a picture of a CY 35-70 3.4 from the front focused at the aperture blades at 3.4?
I just received my copy from the repair shop and it is great. However, at 3.4 I see the aperture blades from the front and I am not shure whether the aperture is fully opened at 3.4.

A huge chunk of glass...
Rathenower Optische Werke Visionar 1.9/154mm.
Another projection lens made for 35mm cinema film (which is actually close to APS-C) but it should cover FF as well.
Looking forward to its arrival.

Sun Optical Co., Ltd (Japan 1950s - 1970s): 24-40mm f/3.5 MC Wide Zoom Macro, OM Mount (Often considered to be the first successful wide angle zoom lens.) A bit of play in the focus ring but otherwise excellent condition and works pretty well. A chunky hunk of glass 'tho.

Hi Cal,
You snagged one of the few third-party lenses to receive honorable mention in the old BOA Pentax lens review.
\begin{quotation}
Spirotone
"They were all made by Sun/Sigma who had other groups marketing them under other names (Polaris [my favorite], Lentar, Rokunar, Accura, Sun, Sigma, Upsilon [Sigma], and Mitake among others). I would say that they aren't as good as Pentax but some of the wide-angle and fisheye lenses have a good reputation. According to McBrooms the following lenses have good reputations for optics:
I had a Rokinon Automatic wide 20/2.8 MC lens that was very good on film cameras. I sold it many years ago, and I haven't seen one since. I figure it was probably the Sun/Sigma 20/2.8 lens mentioned in the BOA list, above.

Just added a Nikon S Mount Nikkor-P.C 8.5cm f/2.
Curiously from reading MIR, this appears to be part of the third batch, "Nippon Kogaku Tokyo" S/N 286646, but that batch apparently typically has a ":" after the S/N which mine does not.
It's a beautiful dense thing. The nice thing though is that it's smaller and about 100g lighter than the CZ Jena 8.5cm f/2 that needs its triplet re-cemented. After shooting with this Nikkor I'm not sure I'll be spending that money...

Jim, thank you for that information. I have not seen the Sun brand associated with Sigma before, 'tho I have seen speculation about collaboration between Sun and Pentax (and perhaps other) lens designers. Apparently Sun produced lenses with a generic mount and bolted on an adapter plate for whatever mount was needed. I found that my PhotoDiox Pro OM-E adapter would not latch with this lens, although it snaps in fine on my OM1. A PhotoDiox tech confirmed my supposition that tolerances were not as tight back in the day, and I followed his advice to buy the cheapest no-name adapter I could find, which works fine
This lens is big and heavy - about 620 grams. Below is a photo comparing it to the OM 40mm and Voigtlander 21 Scopar for perspective. Also three very quick-n-dirty test photos, the second using the close-focus feature, which works quite well once past the contorted process for activating it. (Please forgive the shadow - this was at near the 5cm MFD.) I look ahead to doing some real-world testing outside when the weather becomes bearable and brings us some interesting subjects.
I was told that this lens was brought home by an American serviceman on an OM body, and that he said that this was the only lens he had ever owned for that camera and the only lens he had ever needed.

After reading so many positive comments on this site about the Voigtlander APO-Lanthar 180/4, I decided to grab one off the Bay. (Also, it is on Ming Thein's Ultimate Lens list, Nov. 2016.) The copy I got is in near mint condition, and so far, I am loving it. It's hard to believe how compact and lightweight it is for a 180mm focal length.

jcolwell said: I gotta say that your bookcase looks remarkably like mine, at least until I donated seven milk-crates full of them to the public library, last fall.
Ha. I had 80 feet of shelves of science fiction books and mags going back into the early 1950's at our home. When we moved to this condo I saved only enough favorite books to fill one bookcase and took the rest to the library for the used book sale. What really hurt though was watching an entire carload, six decades, of monthly mags go down the chute to the shredder at the landfill. Nobody wanted 'em

I just re-bought the Leica Elmarit-M ASPH 28/2.8 - but the new one (11677) this time.
I originally bought the 11606 version in late 2012, and used it on the Nex-7. I liked it a lot - so tiny, such great contrast and colors. Only downside was a color cast so I had to use Corner Fix then Adobe FlatField plugin to fix it.
Then the A7 was announced, and I decided that I needed to upgrade the Elmarit 28 to a Summicron-M 28 for use on full frame. So I sold it, and bought the Cron.
. . . which didn't really do it for me. The color balance of that lens is a bit different from the modern Leicas (greenish, compared to 21 SEM and 35 FLE ... I think it's a perfect match for the M9's colors), it had field curvature on the A7 (helped greatly by the Kolari mod, though). The big clunky hood.
So next I decided to sell the 28 Cron and CV 35/1.2 and get a 35 FLE, so I did that (took a bath on the Cron, not sure why).
Anyway - so now I've got a A7Rii (with much less, if any, color cast from rangefinder wides) and Leica released an updated 28 Elmarit last year that is slightly tweaked to help fix field curvature issues on the SL. Also, I looked at the Kolari mod lens-test mega thread, and the 11606 Elmarit wasn't so bad on the unmodified A7R.
So I picked up a mint used 11677 for the same price as I sold the 11606 for in 2013. Haven't taken it out yet, but it's a real sweetie - still tiny, but has the improved hood/cover to match the 21 SEM and 35 FLE.
