Today I added up MD Zoom Rokkor 35-70/3.5 to the collection above.
Excellent lens, sharp and contrasty with nice colour rendition.IQ wise it is on par with primes at 35mm and 50mm,both w/o and stopped. It gets slightly worse at 70mm,but f5,6 solves all problems. No wonder Leica utilized it's optical construction.Found it very similar to my Zeiss Vario Sonnar 35-70/3.5 by means of it's ability to replace 35, 50 and to some extent 70mm primes.
The 80-200mm is like that too. This makes me wonder of not all Rokkor zooms are exceptional! I was pretty floored by the performance of the 80-200mm!

Weren't there 70-210/4 and 75-200/4.5 the only zooms made by Minolta for Leica?.Anyway - sometimes ago I tested Leica 70-210/4 with EOS 550D and was disappointed by the amount of blue fringing.
As for 35-70/3.5 - my copy is the oldest,no macro,1m min focus distance, full metal and told to be better than later copies.

I just bought a similar 35-70 f:3.5 all-metal and no macro. Colours and contrast are delightfully delicate, as opposed to the rendering of Contax G. But low contrast can make it hard to focus on my NEX 5N's LCD

During the last 6 months or so, I bought three used lenses. A Canon FD 35-70mm F2.8-3.5 SSC BL zoom, a Canon FD 35mm F2 SSC BL v.3 (concave) and a C/Y 100mm F2.8 Makro-Planar. My T90 body has sticky magnets at the moment so I'll use an older, but contemporary, Canon EF body until the T90 received a CLA. As for the Makro, I've used C/Y bodies and lenses for several years and I'll try the 'new' one on my Canon 1DMkII, once the rain has stopped during our apparent Summer. Regards all,

I would get another Helios 40, a better copy!
The Helios 40 is STILL on my list, though, my list is continually growing it seems, sigh...

High on the list is an SSC 17/4, SSC 50/3.5, SSC 35/2 concave, Nikkor-OC 35/2.

NICE!
Deju vu, or something, heh!
Believe it, or don't, I have an EOS sliding back adapter on it's way.
Bought it when I bought the kit.
Oh, you have the Sinar pan/tilt head, high five.
Luckily, it came included w/ my kit o' stuff.
What I am really needing now is the Sinar Copal shutter board, WITH ALL the cables for my growing collection of barrel lenses.

What do you do with these things? It cant be all about documenting lamp details right? :-)
(sry for ignorance)
I use the Sinar P for shooting products but don't really use the Sinar F for much at all, as it's a bit flimsy for my liking. So yeah, it's just used for shooting lamps...
I don't use the Sinar P as much as I used to either but if I where shooting products more often than I currently do then I would use it (with enlarging lenses) over other tilt/shift options. It has a large amount of tilt available in the front standard which comes in handy at close range. It's kind of a Nikon PB-4 on steroids.
Another use for the Sinars is for those lenses that don't really fit anywhere else, such as this Ysaron 180/4.5 which can't fit on a PB-4, or probably most bellows due to it's 58mm thread.
This lens board was fashioned from a bit of aluminium (aluminum for the Yanks) which was kicking around in the garage. The lens is held onto the board with an old 58x0.75 filter which worked OK as a flange. Some black tape on the inside of the board finished it off.

After work I arrived at home. Today we get a baby trainer for our small child, and my wife and the baby are playing with that.
I went to the working room (there is at the moment much of my photographic equipment on the floor), and saw a big open parcel there near my gear. Thought about complaining why this baby-trainer parcel is there, and not in the bigger living room.
But I didnīt - should not annoy my wife. She is a bit unhappy with all the gear in that room. And I am expecting a big lens next week. The parcel number I got is not shipped yet from abroad.
But then I realized this is not the box of this baby-trainer, there is a big grey lens inside :-) Seller send me the wrong parcel number.
Canon SSC 800mm f/5.6, heavy used. But glass looks good, a bit dust inside, and some smaller mechanical problems.
Now I am very curious how good this old lens is - will I get good images with it?
And is such a long big lens something for me - or will it be unused after initial testing?
