My cy Zeiss 35 1.4 MMJ arrived today! Unfortunately so did my canon 1ds2 from repairs, now with a scratched sensor courtesy of Eurohitech. Giving them a call tomorrow to see what they are going to do about it.

Ouch! that sux, I hope it's resolved to your satisfaction. Good luck.

MY Contax 35-70/3.4 arrived with a nasty ring-shaped scratch on the rear element. The lens had been carefully cleaned before being sent, and my guess is that someone took a tool, wrapped it in a lens cloth and used it to clean the rear element, to get into the corners of the somewhat deep well. The lens is on its way back now.

urgh, rubbish news Carsten. I bet they are gutted too if that is really what happened, imagine ruining a lens during the process of selling it! I know I would have already spent the money I was supposed to be getting for it too...

Yup, me too, but it was really butchered. I cannot quite imagine how you would make a scratch that nasty while keeping a level head. It was about 1/3 of the way round, perhaps 3/4 of the way to the edge, and multiple times on top of each other. As if they took a screwdriver, wrapped it in a piece of cloth and went scritch-scratch all the way round until all the dust was gone, not realizing the metal was making contact through the cloth. Nasty. I hope he doesn't flip out and accuse me of having done it. It is actually possible to overlook it with the right light but once you see it, oh boy. I thought of asking him for a rebate instead, but in the end I just didn't even want it.
Too bad, it was otherwise in nice shape, other than a little loose lip on the rubber grip, and the price was decent too.
Anyway, I just picked up a Contax 50/1.7 which wfrank didn't want as a consolation prize I had the Contax adapter on the way anyway, so why not. I can just resell it when I have enough money for a ZF.2 50/1.4.

Tracked down a nice Rokkor 85/1.7! And found a nice 58/1.2 for a great price to boot! Jim B is going to being getting some more business soon... Unless there is someone out there that would want the 58mm unconverted.
p.42 #16 · What is your most recent (alt) lens purchase?
Meyer Primotar 135/3.5 and Canon FL 55/1.2.
I've post the sample images in alternative image thread and will post the FL 55 images in Canon FD thread soon.

I believe that Jim's conversion is reversible if you keep the original mount, so I say convert it.

just got my grubby little paws on the c/y 35-70/3.4
I'm gitty.
clears the mirror on the 1ds2, but not the 5d. (really close on the 5d, a soft pop of the hand to the bottom and it returns to rest position).
I assume it's the little fin on the back, file it down or remove it?

Yea, I have had no less than 6 or 7 lenses pass through his shop. Even met him for coffee once... I just figured since I already have one, I would see if someone around here might want one for their mirror-less cam before sending it off.

Hmmmm.... Mine required no modification whatsoever. I would try a different adapter before modification, unless your 5D is known to be more temperamental. (I lucked out on both my 5D and 5D2, only the worst contact the mirror)
