I love it for people, but I can see how it could be too sharp for a proper portrait, with good lighting and half-body and closer. I use it a lot for concerts (usually bad lighting), landscapes, and full-body environmental portrait type images. No issues with the lens being too sharp, at least for me.

This isn't my job, I'm not trying to flatter the client. Textures are a big thing for me visually, and I like to capture (and just see) that.

My Pentax 77mm f/1.8 makes a good stand-in for when I want something with a bit less bite.

That's lovely photo. It's more preferential than anything on sharpness. Contrast too is as important. Lots of people love an Otus! I also had a pentax 77 I loved for its size, and a bit softer WO.

got this in the mail yesterday.

Pentax 67II with 75mm f2.8AL and 105mm f2.4

Pretty sweet, Jae!

Thanks for buying my set-up. Great shot!

Karma must be working for me, as I scored a 65mm Hartblei Super Rotator (tilt/shift) in Canon mount, from the B&S board here (Jeff Laitila, seller). Also got a Canon EF 50-200L, Oly 28/3.5 and 35-70/4, and Pentax Super Tak 35/2.0 and 105/2.8 (and other stuff!). Jeff is a super nice guy (like you!) and sent all the extras as a surprise. I've been in hog heaven all week testing out the gear.

Enjoy that cool Pentax 67II -- I loved owning it, and got some really terrific images with it.

(Sorry for the added lens cap sitting on top of the Hartblei! ;o ) Shot with Auto Sears (early Tokina?) 28mm f/2.8 lens with dandelion adapter

I see you got lots of goodies for Christmas
Haven't heard of those lenses but it's always fun testing out new gear. Enjoy and happy shooting!

I just purchased a Sinar Sinaron 150mm f5.6 Digital lens in a Copal 0 shutter. It is coming from Seoul, South Korea, so I am not sure when it will arrive. It is the same design as the Rodenstock 150mm f5.6 Apo-Sironar Digital (it is the same lens with the Sinar Badge as confirmed by Rodenstock in Germany) lens in a Copal 0 shutter. The lens is to add to my Sony A7r and Cambo Actus system. The lens will replace my Rodenstock 150mm f5.6 Apo Sironar S lens which I will sell to help to pay for the lens.

I
...Show more

Well the Sinaron 150mm f5.6 digital lens arrived and is in E++ condition as advertised. However, and I should have confirmed this before purchase, though the lens has a black face Copal 0 shutter marked with -N0.0, the lens only has the 5 iris aperture blades. I had thought that all of these newer Copal 0 shutters with these markings had the newer 7 Iris aperture blades. My following lenses with the same Copal notation all have the 7 Iris aperture blades: 20+ year old SK 120mm f5.6 Makro Symmar HM, 10+ year old SK 120mm f5.6 Apo-Symmar L MC, recently purchased SK 90mm f4.5 Apo Digitar, and recently purchased Rodenstock 55mm f4.5 Apo-Sironar digital.

So maybe many of the black faced Copal 0 shutters that I have been seeing marked with -N0.0 are in fact only have the 5 Iris Aperture Blades.

So, at least for now, I will use the Sinaron 150mm f5.6 digital lens with the 5 Iris aperture blades and consider a shutter replacement in the future when I am sure that the shutter has the 7 Iris aperture blades.

I am awaiting the delivery of a Cambo Actus 0 size lens board tomorrow and will test the lens soon after. For digital, it is supposed to perform even better than the older Rodenstock 150mm f5.6 Apo-Sironar S that I have found to be extremely sharp on my Sony A7r. The Sinaron 150mm digital/Rodenstock 150mm Apo-Sironar digital lens has an image circle of 150mm while the Rodenstock 150mm Apo-Sironar S has an image circle of 231mm.

Again, I am disappointed in the number of Iris Aperture blades for the lens and I will decide what to do with my Rodenstock 150mm f5.6 Apo-Sironar S.

My latest is a Schneider G-claron 210mm F/9 Enlarger lens that will probably be used on a bellows (I have one that just about extends enough) and later on my 4x5 monorail.

Before that was a 18mm f/2.8 microfiche lens that will be used for high power macro once I work out the best way to mount it (I suspect it will need a tube lens).

In an impetuous moment I bid for a Pentax Spotmatic with 50 f/1.4 and a cheap flash. I paid $29.50 and including delivery the price was about A$50.

the camera and lens turned out to be in very poor shape and I already have a fine 50 f/1.4 8-element version, so why did I bother?

Mint Canon nFD 50/1.2 with hood to accompany my FD 50/1.2L,55/1.2 SSC and 55/1.2 FL

Mint nFD 55/3.5 macro with ring - will pair the SSC version I already have

Like new m42 SMC Takumars - 55/1.8 and 135/3.5 with hoods and cases

There aren't many things better than acquiring some new alt lenses from time to time.

I picked up a minty Zuiko 21mm f3.5 MC after discovering I can use adapted lenses on my current Canon bodies with no metering limitations.

Look forward to hearing what you think. I picked up a Cosina Cosinon 55/1.4 in M42 mount this afternoon, though it cost me a bit more. Quick tests in the shop showed a lot of promise and great bokeh. From everything I can find these should be identical or very very similar.

Opted for a Nikon 85mm F1.8 G instead of the Batis. About a third of the price. Hope it scratches the itch

Yes, I am really happy with that and excited about the lens. I like the 40mm a lot, it's a pity that there are not more lenses with that focal length.

The rare Hexanon AR 2/35 is missing in my list above.

Thats a pretty amazing price on the Contax as well. I was happy when I found a 80-200/4 for $117 yesterday but that deal beats it handily.

We are doing our best We need to find good deals to do all that testing at reasonable costs... Owning a few modern lenses is expensive too in my opinion.

Peire, why did you let the second one go? It's like getting 200€ for free
