Picked up a Minolta Maxxum 7 and a Minolta 100-300mm APO D lens off Craigslist for $100 this weekend. A camera I've always been interested in and a tele zoom that's quite decent but not expensive enough to feel bad about not using enough, I am happy overall!

I purchased a Rodenstock 80mm f4 Apo Rodagon N and a Rodenstock 50mm F2.8 Apo Rodagon N enlarger lenses. These are intended to be used as taking lenses with my Sony A7rM V3 and my A7r stock cameras; I intend to order a Cambo Actus camera hopefully next week to use with the A7r cameras. This will allow me to turn my A7r cameras into miniature view cameras where the Actus and the Apo Rodagon lenses will allow for infinity to close-up/macro focus and allowing for left and right shift (and aid in stitching placing this movement so the camera/sensor are moved and the lens is stationary), rise/fall, tilt and swing movements.

After seeing Roger's teardown of the Samyang 24mm TSE at lensrentals, I decided to pick up a used copy and see if I can utilize the glass cells as an Actus lens. Cambo uses the Samyang optics in their Actar-24, but they want $1700 for it. If this works, I'll beat that price by a grand.

Also found an EBC Fujinon SWD 75/5.6 for the Toyo (and probably the Actus at some point). My first Fuji LF lens and I'm pretty excited. I've heard great things about this one.

I love summer.

I have added a Rodenstock 105mm f4 Apo Rodagon N enlarger lens that is on its way from France. Like the other 2 Apo Rodagon N lenses, it is intended to be used as a taking lens with my A7rM V3 and A7r stock cameras along with the Cambo Actus in the Sony E mount that was ordered yesterday.

The Rodenstock 50mm F2.8 Apo Rodagon N enlarger lens reaches infinity on the Actus? That's surprising.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the results and hearing your thoughts on the setup.
An Actus thread could be a worthwhile effort.

Hi Andrew,

I am still awaiting the delivery of 2 Cambo Actus 39mm thread lens boards. Hopefully they will arrive on Friday or Monday. They were supposed to arrive at Capture Integration today. My understanding is that the lens should be able to focus at infinity with the A7 series cameras (not Canon or Nikon) due to the fact that the Actus mounts the camera directly to the camera standard without the need for the added depth needed for adaption of other maker's lenses. In any case, once I have the lens boards I will try to make confirmation of this. Brad (freaklikeme) should be able to confirm this since he has both the lens and the Actus with his A7 cameras.

I somehow ended up with two old 50mm lenses, but real good ones at that.

1. Leica Summicron - R 50mm (built in 1966 based on SS#) $395
2. Zeiss Distagon Planar 50mm F/1.7 $215

I bought these for my Canon EOS cameras, mostly for my EOS 5DSR because of the great resolution w/ this camera. I already took some photos that I took with the Leica lens and they were very sharp and had nice sharpness through out the photo. Now I have to go tryout the Zeiss. Both seem like really good lenses!

Hi James,

Sorry about that. For some reason I read your reply as Snowboarder (who as I recall is Andrew) I will squirrel this away.

I just purchased on ebay a brand new Schneider Kreuznach 40mm f2.8 Apo Compon HM Enlarger lens for a very good price. I believe that with my A7r cameras and my Cambo Actus that this lens will allow focus from infinity to close-up/macro. This is the 4th Apo Enlarger lens (Rodenstock 50mm f2.8 Apo Rodagon N, Rodenstock 50mm f4 Apo Rodagon N, and Rodenstock 105mm f4 Apo Rodagon N are the other 3 lenses) that I have purchased to use as taking lenses for my Cambo Actus. All of these lenses are supposed have remarkable resolving power and probably close to the best digital large and medium format lenses that are offered by Rodenstock and Schneider Kreuznach.

The Enlarger lenses are much smaller, lighter, and more compact than their large and medium format counterpart lenses. Also they do not have the large rear elements of the large and medium format lenses that may interfere with the camera bellows, camera lens mount as the lenses are focused close to infinity, nor interfere with lens shift. However they lack a shutter which is not required because the shutter is provided by my Sony A7r cameras and they probably have much smaller image circles than the large and medium format lenses.

The Schneider 40mm f2.8 Apo Componon HM is the widest Apo corrected Enlarger lens that covers 35mm FF. I hope that I can live with the lens aperture lever or will have to see about removing it for field usage. A big question regarding this lens is and will be how much shift will be availble, that is what the usable image circle will be. It should provide me with my 40mm/35mm focal length and allow for tilt and swing with the Actus and at least some shift that can be used by itself and/or for the purposes of stitching of images.

Yeah, you can count on the standard bellows adding 10-12mm to the camera's flange distance, so lens with a rear-of-lens to image-plane distance of 30mm or greater will clear with no problems. The 50 makes it easily and I doubt you'll have any issues with the 40 as far as the flange. The 50 has roughly a 60mm IC that's good to the edges by f/5.6, so there's some room to shift there. No idea about the 40, but it wouldn't surprise me if the IC isn't much bigger than 42mm. The general rule of thumb is that Rodenstock is conservative when they list IC's, where Schneider tends toward optimism.
