Hi martinesu,

Great photos. Thanks for posting a photo of the lens. I don't think I've ever seen an f/2.8 manual focus one before. It's not even listed at Adaptall-2.org

The difference between the Contax and Nikkor is really splitting hairs... the Contax has a bit more micro-contrast, but that's about it. The Nikkor 28mm f2 AIS is probably the best manual-focus wide angle Nikon made, after the 35mm f1.4.

you know, the extreme corners on the nikkor doesn't look too good to me, here's an example, whole picture and the bottom right corner. is this field curvature? or maybe my adapter is the problem? Shot at f8

Couldn't resist a great deal on a full set of brand new, in box Contax G (Carl Zeiss) lenses - all in the rare black color to match my Sony A7S.

These are in such pristine condition I hardly want to use them... The fact that they're tiny and AF (with the Techart adapter) makes me much less inclined to leave them in their boxes though. Much testing to be done.

Early tests indicate that they do AF very well up to f/4 on the A7S in dim light and the 28, 45 and 90 are all biteingly sharp even wide open. The 21mm is going to require more testing. It's better than expected but dang - the rear of that lens must be 1mm from the sensor!

Congratulations Vern

I have the 45 and 90 and love them both. I also had the 45 converted into LM fitting, so enjoy it both on my M9 and also A7R. I doubt if the 21 will work too well on the A7, but I hope you prove me wrong.

Thanks! The 21 does not work well on either the A7 or the A7R (from the very few people who have tried it) but the A7S might be a different matter. I'll report back.

40mm F2 Rokkor for CL - small and totally up to the job on the A7r.
58mm F1:1.2 Rokkor - massive and heavy but the king of Bokeh!
Both with their own adapters shimmed to optimal focus across the frame and with internal surfaces covered in black flock self adhesive and flat black paint on the chrome sensor facing edges.

...and the 16/8 Hologon, reproduction of a very special lens in optical history. Accessory VF is part of the original package.

Yes, and the 16mm . But aside from the 35/2 (which is on my radar), the other two don't AF with the adapter. Now obviously I don't care that much about AF since I have so much MF alt glass (OM and Leica) but the AF is a bonus that could come in handy for certain situations. At f/2, the 35mm would be the fastest solution that autofocuses at that focal length on the A7S. I can already tell that the 28/2.8 will be a favorite walk-around lens on it and I'm certain it's smaller than the FE 28/2 that's rumored to be coming soon. And cheaper.

I guess it can't be considered "alt" now that Sony has their own forum, but I picked up an SAL 70-400mm f4-5.6G OSS II last night. Now I wish I had held on to my LA-EA4 adapter...

Immaculate. Made in June 1996, so very definitely one of the last OMs.

I have this nice macro lens also. It is prone to internal hazing. Out of 4 copies I've had over the last 7-8 years, only the last has no internal haze. Now its on the B&S sell board for $100, but no interest. There's a nice pic I posted there taken with the lens on my A7R. It works great with the A7R but I have too many macro lenses

The haze issue has much to do with the lens internal design. When the focus is at the max distance (closest), there is a big gap between the last of the rear lens elements to the ones at the center. This gap is exposed to the internal chamber of the lens barrel. If oil or grease begins to gas off due to the extreme heat or the environments, moisture can get to the rear lens elements. Is an easy fix once you open the rear lens elements. BTW, how smooth is your focusing ring on your Tamron? After oiling and lubing mine, it has gotten smoother but not silky smooth. I mainly used this lens for my DSLR scanning my medium format film negatives. I did some initial testing on my D7000 at wide open. Is sharp even at wide open, on a 16mp body no less.

Not bad for a $57 lens, Tamron sp 90mm f2.5 marco...at F2.5 on a D7000 no less. Amazing sharpness even for a 20 year-old lens, on a 16mp body. It appears the sharpness has improved after using a very, very diluted solution of Simple Green to clean up the oil smear residues. Rubbing alcohol didn't work in this case.
