Lee, I overlooked part of your question:
The Hy6/AFi is a significant refinement over the 6008AF, which itself is only an autofocus version of the integral 2. The autofocus is improved, the motor for winding the film has moved into the film backs, so the camera itself is a lot smaller, just a tad larger than a Hasselblad V camera. The grip has controls on it, and compared to the older one is just more comfortable. The whole camera feels modern, and is very well thought out. The newer Leaf and Sinar backs also cannot be used on the 6008AF/i2, although the 75LV that I bought can.
The downside is that relatively few were sold, and many of the lenses are still quite expensive, as are the film backs. The digital backs are really coming down in price, however. Another downside is that DHW (who makes the camera and much of the system) has filed for insolvency, but then so much of what is on the market has similar issues, so I am not too concerned.
By the way, insolvency is not the same as being shut down, they are still operating under guidance, and hope to continue....Show more →
There are several of us quite fond of the Hy6, and dedicated to the system. A few thoughts on the lenses -
- the 40 is quite modern and small in size, a bit soft on the edges if you look closely (the only Schneider with this issue!).
- the 50AF is quite nice, but the 60 is the cats meow. Favorite of all.
- the 80AF with the 1.4 TX is a cheap way to get the 110 length….
Hope you enjoy and free to email or ask other questions. Eric Hiss (Rolleiflex USA) is trying hard to find a way to help the factory out, and is quite knowledgeable and easy to reach.

Thanks Geoffrey, yes I am aware of Eric's work, and very appreciative. It would be such a shame if the factory couldn't continue, with a history and products like that.

Makes sense. That's what I thought about the CZ vs. HFT versions of the 35/2.8. IME, the CZ 35/2.8 is a lot better than the HFT 35/2.8, but that's based on a sample size of one each. I haven't seen an optical diagram for the Rollei 28/2, but that would be a good indicator.

I have the Zeiss 50/4, the older version, but I guess you are talking about either the Zeiss or Schneider 50/2.8. I used to have the FE50/2.8 for my 203FE, and it was great, but just huge. I don't think I will be buying that lens, simply because of the size. I don't know anything about the Schneider 60, but I own the Zeiss 60, which is meant to be fantastic. I haven't had a chance to really test it yet, maybe this weekend.

I bought the legendary Tamron sp 90 f2.5 last week and it arrived today. I only paid $57 for it!!! A catch?? There has to be a catch. The barrel appearance looks used in a good bargain condition keh.com kind of way. The focus ring is stiff and the inner lens elements were showing some sort of haze.
I have cleaned the lens elements of many older lenses and even reconditioned my old Yashica Mat and I thought I gave this one a try. My worst fear is that the retaining ring are glued. It turned out it was very easy to remove and unscrew the lens retaining rings. It didn't take look before all of the lens elements came out. I can tell you one thing...the lens elements in the Tamron sp 90 f2.5 are some of the heaviest and thickness kinds I have cleaned for a 35mm lens. Half of the entire lens weight came from the lens elements alone.
Some rubbing alcohol and couple of wipe downs...all the haze and oil were gone. There were few dust left but after spending more than 2 hours cleaning it over and over again, I just left it at that for a $57 lens. Right now, I could probably sell it for $150. It even came with a leather case and the original box!!! Once the 1/3 of the rear lens elements have been removed, I could gain access to the focusing barrel alignment grooves or tracks. Added some oil and grease there....the focusing ring is all smooth and nice now.

congrats TooManyShots
I also have this lens, although I probably paid closer to the equivalent of $150. I'm very happy with it although I have used it very little (the usual too many lenses problem).
I've just uploaded 3 sample shots from mine, using Canon 5D Mk III. All have minimal PP and are jpegs produced by Capture One Pro 8.

Hahaha...wow, one of those nights your little camera repair adventure leading to expensive repair. Almost. Well, the lens came with a Nikon adaptall mount. I was using it testing it at first. Being a Canon shooter for years, I never remember which way to turn on the Nikon to dismount. This adaptall mount turned out to be missing a stop screw. The screw prevents you from turning the wrong way. Since when I turned the lens to the left to dismount and didn't feel any resistant, the mount ended up STUCK and JAMMED...hahaha... I almost crapped my pants here. I couldn't figure out WTF was going on. I literally broke the adaptall mount apart pieice by piece while it was still on my D7000. Somehow, I managed get the lower end to prop up but the top was still jammed. I wiggled a bit and worked on it for 30 minutes. Then, I used a bit more force and the top popped right out. The mount showed no signs of damage considering that the mount itself is usually pretty strong. The lens mount on the lens would break first before the one on the body usually. That was a relief.

Just purchased a LNIB 100/2.8 APO-Makro-Elmart-R. Paid a little more than I'd hoped ($2200) because I wanted to use it on an immenent project and couldn't wait for a better deal, but I'm still very excited for its arrival!

I have this nice macro lens also. It is prone to internal hazing. Out of 4 copies I've had over the last 7-8 years, only the last has no internal haze. Now its on the B&S sell board for $100, but no interest. There's a nice pic I posted there taken with the lens on my A7R. It works great with the A7R but I have too many macro lenses

I have the Tamron 90/2.8 in adaptall 2 mount... which is the "better" lens? I've been impressed with it, but the focus is a little to free-moving for me.

The difference between the Contax and Nikkor is really splitting hairs... the Contax has a bit more micro-contrast, but that's about it. The Nikkor 28mm f2 AIS is probably the best manual-focus wide angle Nikon made, after the 35mm f1.4.
