a 50mm F 2.8 Yashinon M42 mount-for ten whole dollars. It is a typical Tessar derivative-nothing particularly great or bad. The focusing is very smooth, and the preset ring settings work very well.

Bought and got a Zeiss Dokumar 35mm f/2.8 for macro work.
Bought a Nikon CF Plan 40x 0.65 - is shipped in the moment. For micro-photography work (on Canon EOS).
And I wait to get a Zeiss 25mm/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.4 and 300/4 - all with C/Y mount, and cheap enough for me (but have to think about reselling part of this kit)

A couple of months ago I found an 85//1.8-H that had been used for video work (as I deduce from the attachment to the focusing ring that would allow a rod or stem to come out from it so it could be grasped and rotated by a 3rd hand...the stem since removed, leaving the holes you see here below)
...other than that "surgery" the lens is in near mint condition and I expected to AI modify it for the day it would be born again and mated to a Nikon...Since one ring was already drilled, another cut, to the aperture ring, didn't seem too destructive...
I'd been patiently looking for AI mount lenses, in case I get a Nikon to go with my Canons, and after modifying the 85 all but my 135/2.8 would be ready for 'the dark side'
...And then I came across this "K" version that had already been factory modified BY Nikon itself...and I had to get it!
...I had to get 2 other lenses a 105/2.5 AI and 55/2.8 AIS Micro, and an FE with it...all classics course, AND ALL MINT....

Hi
I've just obtained a Takumar 1:4 200mm (super multi coated ) $96 us$ including uv filter and a metal hood not a single mark on it anywhere. A friend spotting it on aus- ebay.
Tried it out today and while manual focus is a re learning curve (it was how it was when I started with a mamiya msx 500) it may well be better with another focusing screen. 1d3
The runway shot was prefocused, I'm guessing it was about f8 to f11.
Cerainly as sharp as 70-200 f4IS .
I've generally been a lurker in this part of FM so I'd like to say thanks to all the regular posters

Fantastic images.
I'm waiting for the airshow season to kick-off here in the UK, unfortunately my 50D has developed error 30 and needs a visit to Canon rapair.

I was at the candy store saturday and as I walk in, the owner says to me "just in time!". There on the counter was a ton of classic Leica gear as well as a few Contax lenses and a Rolleiflex. Most of the stuff was obviously unused. There was a mint M5, mint M3 DS and, unbelievably, about six CL and CLE's, half of which were in the original boxes unused with lenses. Someone had brought in an entire collectors estate worth of pristine Leica stuff and was pricing it out with the store owner for consignment and auction. Amongst the stuff, I happen to notice an obviously unused Summicron R 50 v2 Canada in it's box. I said to the guy "I'll give you 300 bucks cash for it right now!" he laughed, said he thought it was worth around $500 (which it is) and then said, ok it's yours! So, now the lens is living on my a900! http://www.gibranstudio.com/sum50.jpg

Excellent Tariq! I like the story as much as the lens. I have one and don't use it enough.
Although not strictly Leica, I was awoken by hammering on the front door on Saturday mid-afternoon. I stopped the postwoman as she had already moved to the next house. She had my 28mm PC Schneider Super Angulon (Leica mount) delivered Royal Mail to USPS.
