Thank you wfrank, my current NEX Lineup is:

Samyang 14/2,8
Samyang 24/1,4
Walimex 35/1,4
CZ ZF.2 Planar 1,4/50
CZ ZF Makro-Planar 2/100

http://www.joachim-piel.de/Samyang24/DSC06690.jpg

The 24 fits a little bit better than 35 because of itīs smaller size and weight, but compared to Leica M Lenses itīs very huge.

The performance is fantastic stopped down, but it have a little more spherical aberrations than 35 and therefore the pictures wide open have a little more haze.

Here are two samples from 35 and 24, both wide open, 1/400s and ISO 100.

On my way to Japan, I had a brief stopover in San Francisco, and, with the help of jet lag and clear weather, got up early enough that I could shoot my first ocean sunrise. I know that it has been done so many times that most of you will be bored stiff, for which I apologise, but I have been somewhat jealously viewing so many fabulous shots of such scenes that at last being able to join in was a great pleasure.

I never get bored with viewing sunrise. And to think this is the first ocean sunrise for you to capture, well, you did a fine job!

apiel123, that 24 is looking pretty nice...

Fantastic weather today, and a lot of people decided to go ice skating on the frozen lake at Vallentuna where I live. I tried to use different focal lengths to test the performance of the Contax 100-300. I also noticed that I really need to clean my sensor...

The following 4 images have no artistic value what so ever. The little bird I know lives in that nesting-box didn't want to show himself today...

I'm testing performance at a distance of 10 meters. In order: 100mm, 150mm, 300mm, 300mm + Mutar I = 600mm. I think the Mutar I gives very acceptable results at this distance, but is a bit lacking at infinity, as demonstrated above. Maybe the Mutar II is better for infinity.

I received my eos-E tilt adapter. I've tried it with a 28mm f/8 nikkor, the samyang 35mm being way too big for this camera...

Now that I have has a little bit more time to play with my NEX 7, I tried my Contax G 45 and Leica 60mm R Makro, my two best lenses in the focal lengths that don't challenge the sensor. Key question, to me, was: "is it better than the 5N?". And I don't mean when viewed at 100%, because the extra pixels translate into extra magnification, and one ends up comparing apples and oranges.
But the answer, to me, is a clear "yes". The IQ is better than the 5N's, by an amount equivalent IMHO to the difference between my 5 and my 5N.
And, BTW, the camera body, though quite a bit more substantial (weight, bulk) than the 5N is much more pleasant to use, better tilting screen, better controls, integrated VF.
So now I have to figure what to do to whittle down my 3 camera bodies (5N, 7, 5DII) down to 2, each with a set of lenses covering the whole range.
More structured tests when I have time this week, assuming that I do and that weather permits...

I'm looking forward to hearing more. It's interesting that some have leaned more toward the 5N for certain situations and others for the 7. Of course, I wish I would have heard your remarks before recently getting my 5N!!! ;-)

All shot with a CV 35/1.2. Vignetting added for fun.

Unless you are stopped down to create enough DOF to capture your subject's unpredictable movements and focus variations, using an effective 50mm (or so) lens on a NEX without a VF is going to be a constant exercise in frustration for street shooting. Try a wider lens, and maybe invest in the EVF.

Shelt, good grief. How am I supposed to follow that?? Uff-da.

One from an indoor snowy day. 5N + G45 @ MFD f/2 - little bit of glow. Love roses, but I hate working with hot pinks - hence B&W.

Only used it for a day and everything is gray or dirt-white here and I think this lens needs color. Not as sharp as G21 (but what is...) but not the same corner issues. Posted a few more from today in the Rokkor wide thread. I think the usage will be close up, or close up:ish, the bokeh seem really nice and contrasty.

apiel, thanks so much for the info and for posting those. Looks good to me. Their size makes them not-to-handy for the NEX, but I bought the 35/1.4 for the 5D2 so I will definetly keep the 24 as an option in the spring.
