I have been horribly busy for the last month, and hardly taken any photos. However, seeing all the wonderful images posted here keeps me inspired! Just on this page - wonderful work.
Here is a little something I snapped this morning. Nex 5N and the Sony/Zeiss 24 E mount. On my Nex, I have the right dial button set to lock exposure, and I keep hitting it by accident. (I may have to change that setting.) Anyway, I locked it unintentionally, and because of that, this image was about three stops underexposed. I lifted the exposure and also lowered the black level a tiny bit. A fair amount of NR, and a bit of sharpening. I am warming to this lens, I must say. It is not what one would usually use in this situation, but it was on the camera at the time.
Apiel, the shots look really good! Needless to say the MP 100 does so too.
And IS in the house isnt exactly a drawback ("A99"). With that and the D800 Canon 5D3 has some really high standards to meet.
But about Samyang, cant help thinking about the branding of those lenses. Wallimex, Rokinon? After the 85/1.4, 14/2.8, 35/1.4 and presumably this 24/1.4 Samyang could have claimed the true alt-alt title. Dont they have branding guys in Korea? :-)
Briantho - even with the Mutar, the resolution seems very respectable. You live in a wonderful place! Native Australians ( I was born elsewhere) would be amazed to see the skater holding his poles with no gloves on, in such weather! Lovely portrait of your daughter too.
apiel123 - great work. Love the wooden rail, bottles and frosted seeds in particular.
must get to work now - this site holds me back every morning

One from an indoor snowy day. 5N + G45 @ MFD f/2 - little bit of glow. Love roses, but I hate working with hot pinks - hence B&W.

Awesome B&W, I would print that one.
I was tinkering with my Helios 44-3 this morning (not on the NEX), then decided to see how the Nokton 40 (on the NEX) would compare to in terms of rendering. They turned out to be very different, here is the shot from the Nokton (just a little test scene)...
Hello All
I normally hang out on the Nikon MF thread but have developed quite an interest in the NEX thread ,some fantastic work here Tired of carrying the D700 around all the time and have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer
I am hoping to pick up an NEX-7 and I am not experienced at all with this kind of viewfinder
My nikkor ais lens should work with an adapter and usually I have a focus confirmation light to help with focus. Is it much different with the NEX I read about focus peaking but don't quite understand it
Also is the 18-55 lens in the kit worth the $200 and when you zoom does it also zoom in the viewfinder
Hope I am not too longwinded and you have a great thread going here

How are you finding the AF with this lens on the 5N. I snapped a bunch of images a couple of days ago and my MF with this lense was consistently better than the AF. It is one of the reasons I would consider it. I must say, your shots with this lens look great.

This behemoth of a thread convinced me to buy a NEX as well.
When you zoom, you do see it in the view finder. Focus peaking is less on and off than focus confirmation, it is hard to explain, there are a few videos of it on Youtube of it that might be more informative than trying to visualize it from someone's description.
Reagan, with a NEX, think of focusing with LiveView, because that is how the cam works. Whether witth the rear LCD or with the viewfinder, you use the loupe to magnify the spot you intend to focus on, and then it becomes very simple to achieve precise focus. Focus peaking is just a bonus for those who like it, which I don't.
Bob - I'm glad you liked the cat photo. I'm finding the AF of the 24mm E mount on the 5N to be better than I expected. I don't think I was expecting much, though! For that cat shot, I couldn't manually refine the focus because he was moving all over the place. So I just stuck the camera near him just above the floor, and fired away. My in-focus percentage (trying to hit his face) was probably around 75%, which surprised me.
I need to do some more testing of the AF with moving subjects, particularly moving towards or away from the camera. I used to have a D700, and the AF was extremely good. On the Nex, I've been almost exclusively manual, so the AF system is very new to me.
I'll write more about the AF after I use it a bit and also try it with the kit lens. I'm actually going to be second shooter at a wedding in about another month, and I have to get better at using AF! I'm worried about this...

It is easier to obtain perfect focus manually on the Nex than on an SLR with autofocus. Admittedly, my experience is with the 5d mk II.
