Wow Serge, very impressive with the 45 2.8 P and D40! And the Nikkor 105s were just meant for the kind of scene you have in the second shot!
Thanks, saph!
The 45P was not on my radar but stumbled across a complete NOS sample at a reasonable cost and decided to give it a try. I find it to be a quite sharp with great color saturation, contrast plus easy to focus. It is fun little bugger to look at as well.
I always get a kick using the 105/2.5. The lens has a massive price to performance ratio, specially in a world where great optics are $$$.
Thanks everyone for all the likes. Very much appreciated.
Thanks all for your Likes on my recent image posts. Sorry to hear about your camera situation, Buddy; I hope you'll be able to rectify it soon! Here are a few more shots with bokeh from Seal Bay and the 5.8 f/1.4 S.
I was in Charlotte NC last week and visited the Billy Graham Library.
This shot using the 2.8cm f/3.5 Leica Thread Mount Nikkor. The vignetting in the image is the character of the lens and I did not correct in post. Felt it was appropriate shooting here with a lens from 1952

Well, it will be a bit before I can post new photos. My D3 shutter failed at just 99111 actuations. With not a lot of money, a huge car repair bill just behind me and another huge electricity bill ahead of me, it will be a while before I can afford a replacement camera.
I'm afraid I am now forced to merely lurking around this thread with no photos to post.
Buddy,
That sucks. Big time.
I took a look at a D3 tear-down. That is one complicated camera (dis)assembly for sure.
I do not own a D7500, but it appears you will have to shoot fully manual mode with AIS/Ai lenses. You can still mount them but since the D7500 eliminated the Ai index tab you are limited to full manual exposure mode.
See the bottom of the page of this link to Nikon online manual for the D7500
The 45mm AI-P and 500mm f4/P both have built in CPU's. You could also explore adding Dandelion chips to some AI lenses. Great article in this link discusses that.

I have been admiring the posts in this thread for quite some time. The 28mm F2.8 ai-s, is still in my kit from my film days. When in use, it is mostly attached to my D800. I still occasionally put it to good use on my FA, or F4. This shot was taken at Arches NP, this past October. I find the lens can still get it done, like no other.
