Can't work out if people who go dipping into freezing waters are brave or just plain nutz !!
Great pix folks ....
Leighton, you can be so cruel at times ..... boo hoo indeed ....
Looks like John H braved the cold for his moon shot ....
So I got one too .....
From my bedroom. In my shorts with the velux window wide open and the wind howling in .... not a pretty sight ..... and I am sure that bits have fallen off now .... not off the camera .... off me ....
I have been around recently but just not posted anything ... moved house about four weeks ago and the mood has just not been on me .....
But now we are in a new year .... I may just try to get the fingers working again .... if they didn't drop off already !!
So a blue moon it is !! D500 + 500mm f4
Its the first moon of the month the blue one or the second?? Inquiring minds as Curtis would suggest !!

Thanks Leighton.
I am experimenting yet, using mostly focus peaking - not perfect, but better than Nikon green dot focus confirmation.
How are you dealing with the Sony menu system? I tried one of the A7’s when they came out and got frustrated quickly with menu.
As I mentioned on Sunday, despite my absence from this thread since the end of September, I have been popping in regularly to keep up with it, aided by the recent slower-than-usual pace. The pace has by no means lessened the quality of the posted images, which is consistently impressive. I would like to acknowledge everyone who has been posting, because you are all excellent photographers with a wide range of approaches and each with a unique photographic vision. However, I also want to specifically point out the excellence of Jeff's (Foggy14's) beautifully processed, semi-abstract photos, Ronny's other-worldly landscapes from the Great White North, Jay's ever-superb work with his 24 PC-E, Colin's always beautifully rendered architecture and cityscapes, Samy's people-oriented street photography and architectural photos, Leighton's entrancing glimpses of farm life (yes, even the bored photo of a cat), and Ken B.'s engrossing single-subject still lifes.
I have completed processing my remaining images from July and August around Vancouver Island, which were my most recent shooting excursions. Here are a few forest and stream photos from the X-T2 with, respectively, the 85 f/1.8 HC, 20 f/2.8 Ai-s, 55 f/1.2 SC, and the 85 again.
On a side note: I am loving my new HP Spectre X360 laptop, with its wide-enough-for-me gamut (95% of sRGB), 4k display, and its ability to be folded into a tablet and used with a stylus. I make no promises, but this might even be enough to inspire me to integrate Photoshop into my workflow somewhere along the line (I might as well, since I'm paying for it anyway).

Nice moon shot Steve. according to the website I looked at yesterday the 2nd is the blue moon - yours is merely "Super" (apparently it's 7% larger due to being at the perigee of its orbit)

Good to see you posting again Glen. Love the first one in this set.
Braved the crazy holiday crowds at the local aquarium
Not many keepers, sigh
Got elbowed a few times, MF lost out to cellphone shooters, selfie sticks snaking out from under my arms, and some pretty cool action cams on a single handle gimbal

It's got its positives and drawbacks. I guess for what I'm shooting now it suits me just fine.
From the top of my head, I still like my Nikon files. Then again the D700 was pretty hard to beat.
That said, I rarely have to mess with RAW; I'm in and out of PS with only JPEGs. Maybe because I don't often shoot landscape/cityscape stuff anymore.
The balance is a bit off, being front heavy, even with NMF and the adapter.
The off-center tripod screw is so annoying and I miss my dedicated L bracket.
Now, the weight just can't be beat. I have a wrist strap that I sometimes leave my camera dangling and I don't really feel like my hand is gonna get ripped off any second.
The articulating screen is great and you know I'm on with the focus peaking.
Never thought I'd use it but I actually like PC Auto Save; I come home and I set it to upload then leave it in the charger. Which btw USB-charging is so convenient. Traveled with only a multi-charger and USB type-B and type-C cable.
I think for the most of it, it's really just getting used to a brand new system.
I've never told you this before, but once I was soooo frustrated looking for the mirror-up function that I almost PM-ed you for help. It was a nighttime cityscape and I just couldn't get any hits at all on Google looking through the settings.
So I googled your town, checked out the time difference then worked backwards to when I hoped-think you'd be awake (4AM right?). Typed out the PM then right before I hit send reply, it hit me... it's mirrorLESS!
Well I just went and stowed away my gear in embarrassment, called it a night.
A bit late, but Happy New year everyone!! Love everything that´s been shared lately.
Top quality.
We spent the new years weekend far out on the countryside away from all fireworks and such. We rented a little cabin by a small lake full off of rainbow trout. We fished the few hours while we had light. No fish caught, not even one
I took a few shots though, mostly with Af. But I took a few with the manual nikkors as well.

This is hilarious! 4am might be just a little early, but I'm always here if you need me.
You're right about the size and being unbalanced. Even with the X-T2 I was having some balance issues with my 50-135mm, until I bought the battery grip. Now all is fine.
