Have I already told you guys that this thread is just for grey/white bearded old farts?
This is my oldest lens, some 3 years older than myself!
Now now Jose, we have to allow some of these young folks in too. Who will take care of us in our old age!

Jose - congrats on the 58 - it's such a beautiful lens. I'm so glad Rafael forced me to buy it.
Laura - I can't grow a beard either. And I don't use a nikon cam.
Mostly Nikon lenses, although there are a couple Rokinons here. Someday I'll have a D850 and a D500..

Thought I would share this for those interested since a good many of us here own or owned DFs.
Within the interview about Nikon pursuing a FF Mirrorless, the first and larger part talks about the DF and future DF possibility. The translation is a bit rough, but I think I took away a few things.
The sensor in the current DF was deliberately chosen for its lower resolution to work better with older lenses and the D4 sensor happened to be the one available. [a bit of a stretch on this translation] Also, that if a future model were to come out, a lower resolution sensor say the D5 20MP sensor might be chosen over the D750 24MP. A D50 sensor or two versions are a possibility as well.
Maybe a stretch but it seems the he might be saying that the D750/D850 tech would be used this time, not the D610... could mean 51 or even better point AF. Also lighter and thinner frame and or smaller size.
Also,, I think that it's clear from this Nikon doesn't feel it sold well and that if people want to see a new model, lol, they need to go buy up the rest of the existing cameras.
Be interested to see what others might get from translating it. The first part is a lot to do with his own DF mods, and interesting read in itself in that someone from within Nikon would admit modding theirs.

Laura. - that list is not going to help me grow a beard is it? What can I tell you - I've got about 5 nikon cameras myself, including the D2X - I just don't use them anymore. When they release a mirrorless with an EVF I'll be all over it - if they'd have put a hybrid EVF option in the D850 I might have been tempted but for some reason Nikon (and Canon) are dragging their feet.
It's hard to believe that brands like Leica and Hasselblad are pushing the envelope faster than Nikon or Canon - Hasselblad for chrissakes !? who'd have thought (I'm very tempted by the X1D but it's out of my league).
I received my new to me D700 last weekend (feels so unbroken in compared to my old one)... perhaps that will make Ben grow a beard! I'd upload a few photos but alas my photobucket account wants confirmation emails and that address is long ago dead; I'll have to find a new hosting solution in the near future.
They're all quite old, Ben, all old enough to have beards of their own, in tech years....

What do you mean "not in my league"! You own a Leica M10.
ha ha .....thank you for reminding me........the Leica was a stretch, believe me, but I already had the lenses for it. The Hasselblad is over twice the price and the lenses are prohibitive.
I almost conned myself into thinking it was a choice between the Leica or the Hasselblad but I was never going to be able to afford the Hassy. Besides.......the Leica takes all my Nikon lenses which means it affords me the pleasure of your sparkling company.......although if I get one more beard joke I'll have to reconsider whether that can still be called an advantage.

Mark, Yes, I thought that was an interesting article. Holding hope that Nikon will come out swinging with a FF mirrorless in a classic style.
Re: the mods to the Df. Best thing I ever did with mine was put the Type K3 split image/microprism focusing screen in mine. What was old, is new. Hard to beat a great optical VF. Well will keep my GAS down for the moment anyway. Especially since a Df(2) is not on the horizon.

Really all said and done, while I could wish for more mods at the end of the day the images from it are still the ones I tend to prefer, just something special about the crisp colorful D4 sensor images along with being able to use all the Nikon lenses old and new. I might even get another one and store it away for the future. 16-24MP is all I need and if Nikon were to create a 24MP super ISO version of the D850 I would gladly have one of those two and call it a day in the camera buying market. I don't care much for the Pixel race, give me 24 high quality MP and I am a happy camper. I really don't like shooting my D810 over 1600 ISO to be perfectly honest and the DF is about 3200 max for me.
