Walking to the library with the Df and 50/2 H, I came across this artichoke. Fortunately I had a 3T achromat in my pocket. Not the best combo for a macro shot, but it worked.
They say the occasional rain squalls that we are starting to get are the outer feeder bands of rain from Irma
Amazing how large a storm it is with the center still down around Cuba

I saw a weather show and they put a ruler across the storm as shown from a satellite and said it was 400 miles across. Even if the wind slows a bit this storm is so big it pretty much doesn't matter where the hurricane tracks as it heads north. ALL of Florida is in for some very heavy winds and rainfall. Though the storm should leave Florida late Monday afternoon, the forecasters said heavy rain would continue to fall until Tuesday.
I spoke with a friend living in India and mentioned that over a million cars were destroyed during Harvey, primarily because of flood water. He reminded me that his sister lives in Houston. Before the storm arrived she moved it to the top of a parking ramp near her home. The car is fine. I noticed in one of the newscasts from Florida that many folks were parking their cars at the edge of highways where they are elevated for overpasses in an effort to protect them from flooding or storm surge. The joke we have is that the only hill in Florida is a dump near Fort Lauderdale...
Good luck protecting everything Reagan. One report I read mentioned that the greatest vulnerability for home is the garage door. If it isn't adequate, it can be ripped from the opening, allowing the wind to get into the structure and lift the roof off the house. Learn something new every day. During the Loma Prieta earthquake San Francisco had problems because so many homes were built above garages and the structure of the garages was inadequate. You'd see rows of homes where the wall buckled at the top of the garage, allowing the building above to sink. I imagine most of those buildings had to be demolished.
I wish everyone well the next few days as the storm moves north. Landfall in Florida is estimated to be 2 p.m. Sunday.

Boca is where I have been before. Used to have relatives there, but they moved and are now renting their condo out. Its right on the waterfront and that whole strip is under evacuation.
Still have someone in the town, he's fairly inland and is considering going to a shelter. The latest track seems to be westwards, so Boca and Delray areas may be somewhat better off and Sue's mom's condo should hopefully be okay. But that track does go closer to Ken.

I've never paid any attention to the ads before - but looking at them now - they're all for Australian products and services. I'm seeing Australian advertisers (who I assume don't even know about FM). Mostly they're for big companies - telcos and insurance companies but some are for small companies, like an Australian grocery delivery company.
Is that the same for everyone? Philippe - do you see French ads? And I wonder if Ronny sees Swedish ads? I'm assuming all the US people are seeing US ads.
Ben
Ben, me neither I never paid any attention to ads - I looked at them and the 1st I got was an US website : date.com "Meet Ukrainian Ladies Now".... I guess next ones will be about sex tourism in Thailand or poisoners like Philip Morris, Coca-Cola or Mac-Donald...... What an hypocrisy, I actually wonder if I should laugh or cry.
Ben, thanks for your comment on the Ben(z) shot of the couple. I interpreted their expressions a bit differently while taking that snap. He was just catching a breath from all the touristy walking around, while she's not so happy getting into the frame, daring me to try that pic with a 55 or 28, instead of 200mm.
Ken (Portland), your patterns of light and dark are superb!
Buddy, great shots at the auto show. You need the 35 1.4 N for such bright scenes And stay away from the peeler!!
George, super capture of the swallowtail and the hummingbird.
Andy, the contrast of colors - gold on the ground, and the deep blue through the clouds is very appealing.
Jay, that's Custer SD, right? Very nice framing.
Lestor, nice pics with the D800e. Did you resolve the exposure probem?
Kristian, interesting carrot. But nematodes Hope it got cooked at high heat.
Rafael, always amazing performance shots! And terrific wide angles at the air museum.
James, nothing wrong with that double TC shot of the moon!
Paul, lovely images at the concert in Catalunya.
Huss, superb portrait with FM2N, Micro-Nikkor 55 and Portra 400!
Ben, you dropped the 18 the moment you got it Glad to hear it survived the fall.
Ken, I think I remember your travails with the 55. Glad both are healed now
Colin, gorgeous images at the art gallery and theatre.
Jay super image of the Flaming Gorge. I was reminded of your work with the 24 PC-E yesterday when I was trying to back up to get all of the American Institute of Architects building with the 28 f4 PC and kept on running into the Octagon building. Just not wide enough.
Kristian, cool pics of your friends. That's quite a haul of produce that your friend has.
Ben, no, not banal at all. Don't let Philippe provoke you
John, wow, those sunspots are amazing!!!
Joey, good to see you posting on this thread regularly, very nice shots!
Steve, great selfie in the crowd around the flashy car. But you, with Leica users
Curtis, nice 400, but I think that vendor overprices.
George, indeed, the Voigtlander 58 1.4 is tempting. Looks too much like the real deal, i.e. the vintage Nikkor look. Really don't get along with the sterile exteriors of modern lenses.
Curtis, I like Bay Bridge at night.
Duly noted on Fred's message that Laura relayed. I must have pop ups blocked so I don't even see ads. I can do without ads forever, but I suppose businesses need those for revenue.

Stay safe Reagan. If you watch WFTS on their website or app, the live streaming is coming out of one of my servers I manage. They are working hard down there.
Rafael - I like all the images but cannot believe that you see a Corsair as being prettier than a Spitfire which is surely the most elegant of all war planes
uh oh the warbird controversy is starting up Corsair vs. Spitfire How about the Mustang? Or for that matter the P-38 with its twin pencil fuselage? I find a whole bunch of those vintage warbirds very interesting. Out of the Luftwaffe ones, the Ta 152 is my favorite to look at. Fortunately came too late to make any difference in the war.
