Sorry to hear all this, Kevin. Is it possible that the eye surgery might enable you to extend the time you can continue with photography?
Here are some more forest photos, from Nile Creek this time, courtesy of the D800E with (respectively) the 50 f/1.4 SC, 16 f.3.5 Ai fisheye, and 28 f/2 N.

Sorry to hear this, Kevin. Here's hoping that your health improves so that you can keep on shooting.

Sorry to hear this Kevin. Perhaps the Fuji system can help you.

Too late Laura, I just greeted the new Zf in my life. When I quit coughing and sneezing I will try out the new kid with some appropriate glass!

Congrats Mary ! Seems like the ideal body for us MFers (Manual Focusers)

Christmas Day Challah by Barbara. The gathering was large, and there was way too much food - so I didn't get to taste these masterpieces.
If there was way too much food how come you didn't get to taste them ? Or couldn't you fit any into your belly ?
Sorry to hear that news Kevin. Stay safe and stop getting covid ! That sh1t can kill ya
Loved the ICM shot Colin. I quite often shoot UCM, Unintentional Camera Movement stuff with my GFX that still sometimes likes to throw in a few extra frames for no reason
Stokesey, yeah, I remember being in Lancashire as a child before they changed the boundaries in 1973. I know someone who is younger than me but has Lancashire tattooed in massive letters across his lower back !
Mike, lovely shots with the 58/0.95 (that is the new Z mount lens yes? in my book it's cheating and I blame Curtis for not seeing into the future and banning any MF nikkors that did not exist when he began the thread. I also don't think the modern tilt shift lenses should be allowed that someone who shall not be named uses ALL THE TIME ! )
More from The Hall of Flame ! GFX + 28PC or 105/1.8
I'm trying to maintain the atmosphere of a dark museum hall with these. I did actually shoot them with the ACROS Black & White preset on in the EVF but once I changed the first shot I processed in LrC colour via the Fuji Velvia/Vivid preset I was hooked.
Sometime added a little vignette here, a highlighted area courtesy of a radial filter here and there, a bit of Haze reduction etc etc or nothing as some of the shots from the GFX just appear in camera and in Lightroom where I don't need to do anything (it just does it, more luck than judgement or skill I swear ).
I have bad astigmatism in both eyes and there are signs of cataracts also in both. My prescription literally changes by the hour, with some days my glasses are fine and I can see, to being blurry enough that I’m questioning if an Uber is a better idea. I can see enough to get around areas I know well, but it’s very easy to get lost. On the bad days, nothing is sharp. My left eye is always blurred…my eye doctor has to make an educated guess at the prescription for that side. Last time I got my eyes checked, I was in the office all day for two days taking measurements as my eyes changed to get a weighted average. It’s so bizarre.
I’ve mostly been using my XE1 as it has a diopter adjustment in the eyepiece. If that doesn’t work, the LCD is what I try and use. When my eyes are bad, I rarely shoot as I can’t focus on the screen with any reliability. Working on a computer is often rough. I have switched to a laptop with a second monitor that has a very high resolution. Its biggest selling feature is how well it scales. Sometimes it’s set so the text is what you would see at 1024x768, but on a 27” monitor.
I don’t know when surgery will be an option. My doctors can’t figure out why my eyes change so fast. I’m guessing the muscles that focus the eye get fatigued and don’t focus properly. It would make sense as my legs and hands behave similarly because of my nerve damage (my doctors can’t believe how fast that’s progressing either. In 3 years, I went from sore feet to complete numbness in my feet, my left side toes I only rarely feel the bones, can’t feel anything else). In less than 6 months I went from being able to carry 100lbs in my arms with just a bit of struggle to struggle with groceries.
I get so many calls about my cars extended warranty…where are the calls about my bodies warranty?! I need a full overhaul.
I'm very sorry to read of your health challenges, Kevin. I can only hope that doctors eventually make it manageable. I don't know enough about cataracts but I'm wondering why they won't just operate now?

I'm liking your work with the dark museum. These lenses are holding up well with the GFX's resolution. I think we saw it when George was using the Fuji as well.
I am very disciplined in my diet. Wellington or leg of lamb - I chose the beef. Focaccia or hallah - went focaccia. Similar choices from the plethora of food.

What a great series, Andy. love your choice in PP as well.

I'm more of a sampler myself, but that sounds like a great strategy. What did you do on the next meal, or is your household a "no leftover" household?
