I got some not so great news from my eye doctor…at some point I will need surgery on both eyes. Can’t do it now as my eyes aren’t to the surgery needed level yet and I’m not healthy enough for it anyway. Over thanksgiving I got Covid for the second time and immediately after for a very nasty infection and sepsis. Was hospitalized for it. So, I will be keeping my 55/1.2, my F2, and probably my 24/2.8 and letting go of the rest. I still have my Fuji XT2 and a couple of AF lenses to go with, but I feel my photography is on its last legs.
Quick lesson on how not to drive. I happened upon this about 3 months ago while walking around town, apparently just a couple of minutes after the rollover. According to people who had seen it, a young woman driving the rental BMW SUV slammed into a parked car and rolled the SUV. She grabbed an infant from the back seat, climbed out of a window, and then fled from the scene.

The differences of the Ai compared to the AiS are:
3/4 turn of the focus ring vs. a bit less than 1/2 on the AiS
7 blade aperture vs. 9 blades on the AiS
Likely improved coatings on the AiS, especially later models, as Nikon continually refined their lens coatings
As was typical of Ai lenses, a more robust lens mount (heavier metal and 5 mounting screws) while the AiS dropped to 3 mounting screws
Ai generally a bit heavier and classic looking shiney-paint
For me, I prefer the shorter focus throw of the AiS (it already "pops" into focus given the small depth of field) and most would say that more aperture blades == better. The Ai goes for a bit less "ouch" money than the AiS, so that's one consideration....Show more →

Too late Laura, I just greeted the new Zf in my life. When I quit coughing and sneezing I will try out the new kid with some appropriate glass!

Sorry to hear about your health and eye health Kevin. I just went to the retinal specialist on boxing day (26th), and learned that once again it's my fault. (controlled my bood sugar "too good") Is everything my fault? sheesh

Kevin, we are thinking of you! Hang tight there buddy! You can do this!
Thanks Ray. I don't think I have ever seen the river so perfectly flat with no detectable motion, or ripples. There was a wonderful silence as well - no birds, bugs, people, machines - nothing but silence - I loved it!

Just beautiful Jim. I love how all the mirrored but distant trees are offset by the darker and un-mirrored foreground trees.
