I had an opportunity to do another relocation for work yesterday. Basically drive a Suzuki Jimny 4x4 from Christchurch to Queenstown (6 hour drive) and fly back. I set off at 4.30am and arrived around 11.30. My flight back wasn't until 4.20pm so I had a couple of hours spare.
Queenstown is the self-proclaimed Adventure/Extreme Sports capital of New Zealand although I'm not sure being towed into the sky by a boat counts really.

Sao Roque Church Lisbon, ca 1565:
The very very plain structure contains perhaps the most intricate and lavish craftsmanship in Portugal. It is one of very few buildings to survive the Lisbon 1755 earthquake which leveled 80% of the city. It contains nine chapels and three altars which appear to be drenched in gold. I will post others when tweaks are done.
The ceiling is decorated with mosaics:
The off season is a great time to visit otherwise it would have been super crowded.
You can get a much loved D700 or D3s or both for much less money
I recently got both
The D3s has less than 5000 actuations
The D700 also boxed and mint 790 actuations
Both cost me less that $1000 together not each
I suppose i will have to start posting on the D700 & D3 thread now ........
I always loved the D700, so the opportunity to get one so cheap and boxed and mint .... not to be passed up ...
Used my D850 with a much unloved lens - the 43-86mm f3.5

Congrats on the new-to-you DSLR's Steve. May you have many hours of enjoyment with them!

My eyes are screaming yes yes... but my wallet is screaming NO NO!
Sounds like a wallet that needs some exercise! I know how your wallet feels---I feel the same way each spring when I go on my first decent hike. So start small, like maybe with some lenses. Then gradually work your way up to the Zf. Just think how much better your wallet will feel after all that exercise!

Indeed, we bow to the master. But he developed an excellent succession plan for his times away from the thread, as you can see in the contributions from George and Laura (see below).

Fortunately, I kept my D800E and D7200-IR for just this purpose! (Phew...that was close!)
Here are a few images of backlit leaves and lichens from the afore-mentioned D800E at Nile Creek with the 135 f/2 Ai-s (first two) and the 28 f/2 N (last one).

A fun snap from yesterday, the Rockefeller Christmas Tree area was total madness, yikes!
Perhaps not the best lens for the occasion but was the only one available for action.
