Hate you posting this Raphael. I've been looking out for one of these early 85 nikkors for a while but damn they're hard to find......and expensive. I'd convinced myself I didn't really want one......until your post.
OR, this may be a keeper, the Nikon camera you can finally claim as your own. I know from what I see the D750 really has an excellent sensor. Rumor has it the Df2, if it ever comes to the market, will have the D750 sensor. I was hoping for the D5 but 24 megapixels would not be too bad. Love what you're sharing with us Reagan...

A shot I took last year, and had printed on canvas, got selected for a very selective art show here in town. Only 25 artists selected, so I'm super excited, but super nervous. I have to sit at the venue tonight that my photo is going to be on display for the next two weeks, and "talk about my art". The photo I shot, I took with the ancient D3 and 24-70 lens, and since I'd left my tripod in the car, handheld it on a rail for the 2 second exposure Winner gets a small cash prize and a gallery display. There's some sort of voting thing online, so I'll post that link when they make it live.
Shot was the High Falls in downtown Rochester ...Show more →
Congratulations Laura... though I imagine for one of our more SHY members, having to sit in front of a room filled with people to "talk about my art" would not be exciting. Perhaps you want to take a first step in overcoming your shyness by sharing with US a photo of your smiling face... We've actually seem Samy's smiling face now so you really are our only senior member who remains incognito...
You might also share a link to that photo so we can all appreciate it.

I must be confused since the NKJ lens has the same optical design as Nikki which you were gracious enough to lend to us during the Great Nikon Lens Adventure. When I was unable to find an 85 f/1.8 H.C. with the Nikon AI conversion kit, I had to "settle" for an 85 f/1.8 H AI which is in fact an Auto Nippon Kogaku Japan lens. I paid $214 for an EX copy of the lens and enjoyed it until I bought the Df and stumbled on a pristine H.C. without the conversion kit. I paid $179 for that lens. Unless, of course, you've caught the bug infecting Chris who, in building a SECOND kit of Nikon manual focus lenses narrowed his choices to lenses with the NKJ label. Fortunately... that particular version of this disease has left me in peace... at least up to this moment.

In support of Reagan's sentiment, I stubbornly stuck with the green dot on the Nikon Df to get a somewhat in-focus and steady picture of this photogenic butterfly stubbornly hanging on to the flower in fierce winds.

Beautiful work, Glen. I really like the last one. I'm going down that Fuji road, too. I just bought an X-T20. I hope to get to actually use it a little next weekend.
Thanks Scott, and congrats on your new acquisition! I'm looking forward to seeing your photos from that small but capable camera combined with MFNG.

Reagan, I have discovered that, like many people, I have three basic needs in life: food, shelter, and someone to blame. Much like what Curtis has done as Master Enabler in relation to MFNG purchases, it has been very kind of Leighton and you to step up to the plate to provide me and everyone on this thread who henceforth becomes a Fuji user with someone to blame for our foray into Fujiland. Your service is greatly appreciated!
Here are a few more monochrome images from Lake Superior in mid-May, from the X-E2 and anonymous manual focus Nikon lenses. And no, that is not a paid model in the second shot.

ha ha well, I agree you must be confused. But you of all people shouldn't talk about bugs and infection....I had no infection of any kind until I came on this thread.....and even since my recent return a few weeks ago I've had a relapse: my current obsession is nikon RF lenses with the ltm mount. I've bought a 135mm f3.5 which should arrive this week and I'm looking for a 50, 85 and 105 (see, already I've got 3 more purchases lined up.....sheesh).
But the 85mm nikkor H is an old obsession of mine - I'm not sure I can even blame you for it (unfortunately). I always wanted one of the original 60s lenses. When I bought the 85HC I thought it was from the 60s. So that was a mistake .... what I really yearn for is the NKJ 60s lenses which have serial numbers from 188001 - 210000 (roughly) ....after that we're in the 70s.
They are extremely hard to find in good condition, not excellent or mint, just good, and at a reasonable price. They edge up to about $400 which is more than I want to pay (although I'm getting desperate). I made an offer on one last week but was turned down.
Glen - cute set. Love the squirrel alone on the step (that's a squirrel isn't it? I don't know we don't have them here)
Samy - that 20cm is looking very good. I love "ben-ning in Baltimore"....that's up there with "lens gendering". They are seriously dark pics - even I allow a chink of light.
Love the morning and evening light Reagan and Lestor. What is that trapezoidal thing?
Is the squirrel taking on the beautiful view Glen?
Ben plays great light tricks with people.
This is the lens you want Ben, do not worry about H.C. because H. is sharper and does not flare. My copy of the H. is far better than the K types I own.
Proof below.
Lens is MAGICAL, so sharp at 1.8. The sunsets in SoCal summers are not cloud based, they are simply an immersion in wet all encompassing luminosity.
Some at 1.8.

Rafael - you mean the one on the left.....not the one in the centre on the camera? Yes, that's what I'm looking for - but an earlier version. It's hard to tell, your H is blurry in that pic - but the earlier versions (from the 60s) had the writing on the inside of the rim.
I'll find one eventually.
beautiful sunset pics Rafael - but stop posting, you're a worse enabler than Curtis and that's saying something!

Ben, the lens on the left and on the camera is the same version. The lens used in the photos and the one I like best is the H. on the right, which you identify correctly as a less old version.
