Chris - ha ha no I didn't buy this one - I bought a rangefinder version with the LTM mount. I also found the 85mm H I was looking for - it's serial number is in the 19xxxx range so it's from 1965 - 6.

It's just that I like my 50-135mm better. The 135 is a tad sharper, but not enough for me to keep it. I always wanted to try one and I got it for a low price. Now I want to pass it along to someone on here for cheap.
Ric, sorry to hear about your laptop loss. Hope to see more of your California pics again.
Ben getting into RF Nikkors now, cool! I believe George and I are the only other ones afflicted by that particular malady. You will likely have better luck with the gleaming modern Fujis or whatever you are going to use for the 135. On the old RF cams like the Nikon S line, or the Leica IIIc, accurate focusing is a bit of a lottery at that FL.
Lestor that black and white boat and the deep deep blue skies are fantastic!
Glen, enjoyed the Lake Superior shots. Ken had some from his recent trip up north too.
Rafael, the grand cruisin Jaguar was priceless (it probably is, but I meant your 85mm take of it).
Peter (Knysna), the estuary scene is super!
Kristian looks like a fun hike down to the waterfall.
Scott (GA), very scenic views in the Rockies.
Glen, so those sculptures are just sand? Wow, very neat!
Peter (Wisconsin), thanks for the hikes you do to get those scenes!
Reagan cool bike on the beach.
Andy, love the parakeet, especially the one where its munching.
Philippe, very nice pic with the waterspout and the ripples.
Thanks folks for the comments and likes on the recent pics!!
I have to attest, that 50-135 Leighton has is one smooth machine, the controls just glide and work flawlessly (he let me check it out for a few seconds only, its too precious for him ).
Been trying out some other contemporary gear, like the Yashica TL Electro M42 camera, with its Yashica 50mm lens and a Pentax 135 f2.5 SMC Takumar. Just not the same as Nikon.
Oosty, man I love seeing those D200 pics. I loved the colors from mine when I had it. I had a main board go and that was the end of the D200 for me. Keep 'em coming...

Oh man, I wish I would have known you wanted to fondle it more, I would have let you.

You could pick up another D200,
I just blew my budget on a mint Df. But the D200 was the most natural camera in my hand with the D700 a close 2nd. Df is great too. I hate the grip though. Would have bought a D800e had there been one too.
Of course now, T_Gordon just posted an equally mint D800e. Never fails and I'm never content any more.
The siren call will continue I still have my D1h and D1x and just recently got new batteries for them I have the grip for my D200

Todd we must have the same sized hands because I agree. The 200, 700 fit me very well. Look into the DF-GR1 adaptor. I got one because of the same complaints you mentioned and now happy with the grip. The cases I tried I sent back because they did not expand the grip, only made the whole camera body feel bigger. /K

When I bought the Df it came with a Fittest L-Bracket which I used for the first couple of hours. But, it makes the camera even more slippery . I may put something on the grip part of the bracket to give my fingers something to hold onto.

The way things are going with me these days, by the time you save up more money (or if you end up deciding the Df isn't for you), I might have decided to sell my D800E.
Thanks everyone for your Likes and comments on my recent photos; and thanks to Laura for identifying the "squirrel" as a chipmunk that was taking in the scenery (of me, the nearby predator, that is).
Here are a few waterfall images from Northern Ontario (I think I might have previously posted the fourth one, but I liked it enough to want to process it properly on my desktop computer instead of my phone).
