Thanks Samy! Looks like the way I was planning. May try it in the next couple weeks. Working on a bicycle project this weekend and evenings next week while the weather is cold.

George, here's the 105 2.5 AIS with the chip and the butchered baffle. But it gives me the green rectangle!!
Z7ii, 50mm f2 HC, +Nikon Close-up #2 for a close up of the baffle-mauling. George, this was really quick and dirty, if you want another angle or better focus to get an idea, let me know.
Very different aperture blades in the millenium, but cool to know its really top quality. The older 5cm 1.4 is already quite a performer, I actually prefer it to the 5cm f2 HC since the latter for me really loses quality when there's some strong light around the frame. Must be the difference in coatings.
Interesting to see the 50 1.2 really went the wrong way in relative distortion.

So, I wanted to see if the 5cm 1:1.4 S.C RF chrome and the black one were keepers.
So I ran some test shots (I don't test lenses, just wanted to know if I have a good copy).
I took photos of a wardrobe, with a photo print in the center, at 1.4, 2.0, 2.8, and 4.0 with the 5cm S,C S mount chrome, another one in black, the millennium and a 50mm 1.2.
Lighting was window, soft light, hard light might show more differences among the lenses. Other distances and subjects would give different results, not a test, but a check on a tripod..
I will not make this a long post, if you are curious, it is all at Flickr, well labeled.
My evaluation is that the 5cm Chrome is a good copy, the 5cm black is a little better, the 50mm 1.2 is much better, and the 50mm Millennium is better than the 1.2 at 1.4 (both). from 2.0 up the 1.2 and the Millennium are pretty close.
Statement of fact, the Millennium is as good at 2.0 as the old lenses are at 4.0. Worst distortion may be the 50mm 1.2.
Here is a photo from each, labeled and at 2.0. small size- if you are interested go see the whole series in Flickr. All processing copy paste.
The coatings and internal reflections, the 5cm black has better coatings that the chrome, the Millennium much better.
I guess I will keep them all.
The Fotofox S to L39 adapter is not as good as the incredible Amedeo S to LM, but it works well and it was only $70, not $300,
This thread hasn't seen many 200mm f:4 AI (or AiS, same optical design) Nikkor shots - I had the opportunity to acquire one last week and here are some test shots.
First impressions:
+ small (skijack-pocketable)
+ pretty sharp
+ chromatic abberations not a significant issue
- a major pain to focus handheld
Both fullframe images shot handheld with a Z7 and a dumb adapter, Manual exposure / Auto-ISO: 1/400 f8, +0.3, ISO 200-400. Completely overcast.
(Oxford won the fixtures today vs Molesey, but I thought Oxford's performance was dull and uninspired - should do better than this on 26 March!)
The four kittens followed me everywhere, and one November day in 2018 they followed me through the slider into the bedroom. I let them out when they panicked. Next day they moved in for good, and Momma cat joined them about a week later via the same method. They all got their shots and were fixed or adopted out as I had done with the previous litters. My back yard is far less interesting to me than when Momma cat was constantly filling it with kittens. None of the ones I have kept show any interest in going outside. I put bird feeders outside the slider ("The Big Scream TV"), and I shoot photos while they watch the birds.

What happened that you no longer have the ferals? Momma Cat fixed, or deceased ?
Yes George, did the red bokeh give it away I am about 3/5ths of the way through it, slowing down a bit.

Don't ask me why, but this seems like a good time to post a few selectively desaturated autumn leaf photos from October 2022. These are brought to you courtesy of the 55 f/1.2 SC (first two) and the 28 f/2 Ai-s (last two) mounted on my Fuji X-T4 and Lens Turbo II.
Took the Nikkorblack rf 5cm 1.4 S.C to the Poway Midland Railroad.
There is a reality to California light, not just the sunset, but daylight in winter days where the air is clear with no humidity and the light is strong and the shadows dark, one gets hot in the sun and shivers in the shade.
Combine that light with an old lens and something unique happens, you may like it or not, I love it.

Puente de San Martin, completed during the14th century. One of the two Toledo bridges crossing the Tagus River which acts as a natural moat around the hill city. I believe t was one of the longest bridges in its time.
There is a popular high point thirty minutes walking distance from the bridge that provides panoramic views of the city. I was looking forward to photographs from there but an approaching storm axed the plans.
Aw... I'd forgotten. I'm surprised another momma didn't move in though, as they are wont to do when a territory opens up.
My cats are spoiled too, I had a large bay window installed in 2012 when I had the original windows in this house replaced.

Phoebe, also in 2018, with the 300mm f2.8 ais. I think I posted one of these before. Phoebe was abandoned by another cat (not Momma Cat) under a deck at approximately 4-5 weeks old. The deck had to be dismantled to retrieve her. We believe she is a Nebelung cat, and has the most dense fur I have ever seen. You can only see her skin by her ears. Phoebe has emotional issues, and only likes me. Recently, after eight years, she has taken a shine to Barb. When happy she is very sweet - otherwise she is moody, and tells you about it constantly.
