Barbara has been at it again. This time Streusel with Wild Mushrooms, Pancetta, Leeks, Potato, Pine Nuts in an amazing Sherry sauce. I don't deserve this, but I am not complaining. Nikkor 28mm f2.8 ais wide open on the 5D markII iso 800

Wonderful light, as always, James. The flour man in me will devour this. Looks delicious.

Fuji = confused
Cannon = betrayal
Hassy = curious?

Steve, we need you to say something about Nikon on.........

I think Jim's penitence needs to be whatever Barbara bakes next shipped to us.

Wow, I thought turning a perfectly good Canon 7D into a house brick was enough penitence for a life time.

A trio sampling of Cutleaf Toothwort with the 28mm f2.8AIS on a 12mm tube. Some funky bokeh, but I typically struggle between getting enough depth at the main focus point vs keeping it wide open for smoother bokeh.

Ray,
Just wanted to ask why the 12mm tube on a lens that focuses down to 10-11 inches with CRC (Close-Range Correction) builtin? How does it effect DOF and the bokeh?
Jim

In 2017, after being released from the hospital, I went on many many walks - probably fueled by the massive doses of steroids given me to help with newly found auto-immune renal disease. On the very first walk in late April of 2017 I came across two trees in flower that I had never seen before - Royal Star Magnolias. The light perfume was just the aroma nudge I needed. I ended each walk in this park at these two trees, and sought my own to plant in my yard. This is the fifth year it has bloomed, and it is about four feet high and about 4 feet wide. It went from zero to about forty blossoms in one day - here are a few. All, except the third one, are shot with the D7200 + 105mm f1.8 ais, and the modified tc-16a. The third one is the 5DS-R with the 55mm f3.5 ai'd Nikkor-P.C

Guess #1
A manure pile covered in lime that the animals recently stirred up.

Guess #2
Black Russian bread dough on the bench, and pumpernickel or rye flour sprinkled around it.

Jim, I use the tube to get even closer than the already close focusing bare lens. The flowers are less than 0.5" in size, and I wanted to get in really close. I need to pick up the PK11a for a shorter length tube as there were some shots I did not take due to the shadow of the lens being in the picture. Going to the PK11a will let me back off the distance by about an inch vs the 12mm tube.

I'm not sure as to DOF and bokeh impacts, I'm sure there are articles available that I can search for, something else on the list. I'm pretty sure the closer I get the lesser the DOF.

Leighton, I see semblances of a skull imprint.

Jim, the Royal Star Magnolia is a new one for me, looks great!

Samy, wonderful dappled lighting on the tulips.

A trout lily, this time with the 55mm f2.8 Micro.

Nice one Ray. I like the framing with the other flower in the background. Our trout lilies finished blooming about a month ago.

For those who saw a skull, all I can say is, I'm glad I'm not alone. And yes, it is part of our chimney. Barbara said she couldn't see it.
