Morning walk found our friend the Muskrat exploring the creek. We were standing on the bridge and I don't know if it couldn't see us, or just didn't care.

That sort of surprises me sense your Fuji has a MF sensor.
I have had tremendous luck with that TC. I think that with the moon covering more pixels on the sensor is what you are seeing. Plus I might have even been able to focus a little better. But I agree, in a perfect lab comparison the TC would cause degraded performance.

So much to experiment with, this is the 800 with TC and last nights moon. as a note for those that are curious there was vignetting at the corners. Also while I cant post the pic here I tried the Samyang 14mm 2.8 and it completely covered the sensor and was sharp to the edges. I wish I could find one of my ultra wide Nikkors that could do that. I do have several 20-24mm's to try.
First with TC and Cropped, second is without TC and shows you the whole image so you can see the vignetting at the corners.
Third is no TC Crop....Show more →
Mark, can you post the Samyang 14 samples over on the Adapting Lenses to GFX thread? Would love to see your results.
Ben,
Many of the lighthouses on lake Michigan are red, but some are white or the colors of the materials from which they are constructed - like stone or brick. Michigan has more lighthouses (link to 129 of them) than any state in the United States. I read somewhere that the five Great Lakes have 281 lighthouses. The same day I shot Grand Haven's lighthouse I shot "Big Red" in Holland Michigan - which is on the shore at the entrance to an inland lake channel. (as are many Michigan lighthouses) Big Red is made of steel plates riveted together, and is quite tall.
During storms, Grand Haven's lighthouse is particularly dramatic since it's two piers jut so far out into the big lake. The south pier has both lighthouses and a lighted cable bridge 10 feet above the concrete pier. The North pier has a green and white tower to mark it's location. A few years ago there was a interesting condition of sun shine, blue skies, and high winds that made for some interesting photos. I used a billboard about a half mile away to protect myself from the 70+ mph hour winds to shoot these two images with Nikon's 500mm f4 afs.

Got to say that has to be the cutest muskrat I have seen in the first picture. We had a couple at our pond the other year and was more “rat” than cute.

Good catch

This one seemed to have a different looking face than they normally do. I agree with you about more "rat" than cute.
FedEx Ground uses contractors. UPS stores are franchises. One up in Troy OH had all its employees quit and left a sign on the door...
Some of the zigzagging is if one processing center gets too full, they try to reroute to another to alleviate the jam. Drive by one of the processing centers and count how many trailers are on the lot....

Wow. Well it is not just USPS. First of the month I had a Fedex package make a 10 day trek that was supposed to be 2nd day delivery. At least that is what I paid for. It went past my exit off of the interstate (4 miles away) 3 different times as it bounced locations.
I guess they are having an incredible load this season too. It seems like they are putting a Fedex magnet sign on any vehicle they can use for delivery. A lot of plain white wrapper vans being used around here for delivery.
I can hear the thud of the waves crashing on the jetties.

James - see, I learn so much on this thread, never would have known any of that about Michigan. Love that lighthouse series.
this is my new 135mm f2.8 QC , yes, it's much sharper than the 2.8AIS and 3.5 versions but it's so big and heavy. The thing I liked about them is that they were tiny for such long lenses.

What! I thought you didn't want to have to buy another lens? Congrats, it is better than the others, except the f2.

Yes, I didn't...... I blame this bloody thread.....and, as we know, I'm weak. It came from Italy and was quite cheap. I really like it. It is also in the best condition of any lens I've purchased, in Rafael condition.......no, no, I'm kidding, but it is a very very nice copy. I normally don't care about the cosmetic condition, in fact, I'm a bit intimidated if it's too good because I'm scared I'll scratch it. This is like new. Still, I wish it was smaller, this is up around the size of the Canon 135mm f2, the Lord of the Rings.
