I am intrigued as to how this works. Is there a reticle or measurement scale in the optic?
Colin
Colin, a shadowgraph or comparator is s self contained projection unit for measurements, you can measure using the scale on the screen or by moving the object with a micrometer x-y stage. Look up comparator in google. The lenses are very accurate and flat field and usually come in 5x, 10x, 31.25x, 50x, >> 200x.
I paid $60 for this lens but it is too high a magnification for me, Still looking for an inexpensive 5 or 10x.
This afternoon, I took my beautiful AI-S 300mm f/2.8N IF-ED out again and mounted it on my Nikon TC-17EII (modified to be fit on that lens). Even with a TC, the manual focus still is a joy to use. I've just enjoyed a few birds in flight with this combo...
Nikon D850, AI-S 300mm f/2.8N IF-ED + TC-17EII (@510mm f/4.8), hand held.

The other is a Mitakon Zhongyi Lens Turbo II for Canon EOS. However, I will include 3 Nikon-Canon adapters that can be left on the lenses and used with great results with the LT II. It can be found here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1684571
Be sure to mention that you saw my post on the Nikon MF thread and I'll give you 15% off either item. Or, I can do a package deal of $125 for both. PP fees and shipping are on me.

How about some love for the Nikkor manual focus pumper zooms? Here's the 35-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AI-S on the D3s. I stumbled across this fashion shoot when I went for a swim this morning and the lovely lady in blue was kind enough to oblige for a couple of photos while awaiting her shoot. All straight out of the camera with some cropping.
I thought this mildly interesting. I've been playing around with an old Vivitar 2x teleconverter, trying it with various vintage Nikkor primes. I had heard that a teleconverter will exacerbate any aberrations of the lens you put on it. So I was surprised to find that the TC actually improved the image quality of one lens, my Nikkor-S.C 50mm f/1.4, in the center of the frame at f/1.4.
I have attached two photos of the same boring scene: the first, taken with the unaugmented 50mm f/1.4; the second, with the same lens on the 2x TC, with aperture still wide open.
Hopefully you can see how, in the center of the frame where the outhouse is, the TC shot has better contrast and less spherical aberration (glow), and is perhaps sharper, than the lens-only shot.
I attribute this effect to the fact that the teleconverter only uses the light from the central part of the lens, where aberrations are at a minimum. As everyone knows, the reduction in aperture imposed by a 2x TC is two stops. Indeed, the image characteristics at the center of the TC shot are not dissimilar from those delivered by the lens alone when it is set to f/2.8.
Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?
Nikkor-S.C 50mm f/1.4 at f/1.4 (no TC)
Nikkor-S.C 50mm f/1.4 with 2x TC, still at f/1.4 (marked)
The Megadap MTZ11 Leica-M to Nikon-Z AF-adapter got a firmware update (v2.0), which boosts the AF quite considerably.
I'm in the market for this one, but I'm pretty blank about adapters (only FTZ).
Which adapter should I get for M-F?

Chris,
The only one I have or have used is the Fotodiox Nik-L/M. Cheap, straight adapter. No aperture control for G lenses. Achieved infinity focus. $25 US or so from B&H.

Thanks George, I guess there're no adapters available that pass the Exif through
