One of our manual focus Nikon forum friends Montana Kid, aka John R, sold me this beautiful early compensating Micro Nikkor 55mm 3.5, complete with box, papers, bubble!
On its way!
This is my consolation for having had to return the defective multiphot set.
My copy of the pre-AI 28/2.8 struggles very badly with the sun (i.e. totally falls apart more than any other lens I've used, but it's also the oldest). But with a little care - and some Dehaze in Lightroom - it can do OK.
I see you have your own website. Is that a new venture? Maybe I am behind the curve.
Anyway, just wanted to say that there are some amazing pictures in there.
Still with the D70 and the 500/1.4TC combo I shot some at 1/3000 and auto iso - quite amazing how technology has advanced from what was (and is ) a fine camera 16 years ago when it was launched. A group from our club is exploring creative art at te moment and after removing noise in DxO and then editing in colour efex and analog efex I was quite happy with the painterly results.
Rafael, great Tritium dial on your Speedmaster. Awesome watch!
We spent eight days at a friend's home in Connecticut. It was great getting out of the medium Apple and having the freedom of wheels. Hope to get back in three weeks and capture the fall colors which are expected to be excellent this year.
Had the pleasure of spending quality time with this bundle of energy, better known as Abbey. She was a lot of fun and took her everywhere.

No, I've actually had it up and running for many years, I just havent spent much time on it, especially after the last wordpress update caused it to crash. Thanks for taking a look, appreciate your kind words. Hopefully I can work on it this winter, lots of updates are needed.

Hi Ani
I've also just noticed it. Really beautiful images.

That is one very clean and very early lens!
Thanks, almost all of my NPJ lenses are that clean. Some of them need perhaps lubrication, but that's it.
According Roland Vinke's database this one is from about 1963.
First visit visit to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, It was a bit of a drive to get there but is a very picturesque town. It was much quieter than would have expected for a Sunday afternoon.
Fancy meeting you here... No Marin was not devastated by fire and although we've endured weeks of HORRIBLE air quality that kept me indoors except to go out for food... I have survived. Covid is still an open question, so the freedom to fully engage with life is not yet possible. I turn 79 tomorrow, so like all the OLD people I know, we're being very cautious. I'll leave it to the young people to build herd immunity... which I've been told is somewhere north of 70%. Given that a report today says the U.S. is probably at 10% I'd say we have a ways to go.
But alas, the air cleared and last week I went for a walk into the watershed, beginning at Marin Stables whom those who've been around for awhile will remember from earlier offerings. On that particular day it was horses of another type that caught my eye... a VERY clean 1955 Chevrolet Bel Aire station wagon parked on the dead end street leading to the stables. I simply had to stop and pull my Df out of the trunk. The 55 f/1.2 S.C. AI was mounted. With a tip of my hat to the folks on this thread who enjoy photos of cars...
Unfortunately, I wore the wrong boots on that modest three mile hike and paid the price with a tear at the back of my ankle that made hiking impossible until last Thursday. I got a renewed pass to the Sky Oaks entrance to the watershed and took a relatively short hike on the shore of Bon Tempe reservoir. Again I had the 55 f/1.2 S.C. AI mounted. Here is a look at the reservoir with the East Peak of Mount Tamalpais in the distance. You'll note the water level is low. In fact, the reservoirs stand at 67% of capacity which is just a tad below normal for this time of year.
We'll have hot weather for the next two days but hopefully the air will stay clear and I'll be able to get back on the trail. I haven't gotten nearly enough exercise this summer, which isn't a great thing for my aging body. I need a few weeks of good cardio workouts on the trails. Those are always great opportunities to take a few photos... hopefully I won't disappear again...
