I’ve been out of commission all week with dangerously low blood pressure. Finally this afternoon I picked up a camera with the 28/2.8 AI-s, and the aperture blades were sticking. I last used it about 3 weeks ago, and it was fine at that time. I’m hoping this is only a simple clean and lube job. It’s so annoying to have equipment problems just as the notoriously wet weather here starts to co-operate.
Since I’m feeling like a cranky old troll, here are 2 troll’s-eye views of Portland bridges.
85/1.8 H
25-50/4 AI-s
Df on both shots
That first one is great Ken, beautiful lines and PP.
Thank you Sar. In this section, the headstones face west, and I was shooting at sunrise. My goal is to give a better idea of what these look like, rather than the clipart version from the sheet of paper. The one I was given had been copied from a master of about 20 copies ago, so they were really fuzzy. I seem to have had quite a few hits on it too I also have the AI version

Very well executed shots. I find my AI-S 105/2.5 handles pretty well the highlights. I'm trying to take it out tonight for the festival of lights in Sydney (Vivid Sydney).

I trust that folks understand John, when you speak of "fueling" that submarine, you're talking about nuclear fuel, not diesel...
I worked for fifteen years at Vallejo, CA, which was home of Mare Island Naval Shipyard. It closed down during the time I was there but they'd built a great number of nuclear subs, many of which returned for servicing. The Shipyard was on the Napa River, which is quite narrow, so we'd see the subs in the yard and in the river.
Yep. They still use the term refueling, which is true, even though it's of the nuclear kind.
Anyone who knows anything about these Ohio class ballistic missile submarines knows that they are one of the most sophisticated machines ever built by mankind. Also the most powerful tool of war there is . . .
You're really making that sweet lens sing Rafael... the 55 f/1.2 S.C. is an amazing lens, though one can enjoy the same capabilities with the later K and AI versions... you just lose the scalloped metal focusing ring. I wonder if you want ANOTHER copy Rafael... I just checked and there is a mint condition S.C. pre-AI available at the moment on E-Bay... Inquiring minds want to know...

not the greatest pan, but I barely used MF glass yesterday. Got two more days to improve on this, ideally when the skies turn gray tomorrow.
55mm f/1.2 Nikkor-S with ND-8 filter on D500
f/11.0 1/30s ISO 100
I feel the blur... which is perfect for a fast moving sports car. Granted, it looks more like an artist's rendering than a photo but I love it.
I'm waiting for mine to get chipped. It's a very difficult one and succes is not certain.
There's no room for an official Nikon contact block, so my friend will try it with a dandelion chip.

I find it one of the best panning shots.
Nothing in focus but enough to recognise, one can feel the speed.

Got my 50-135 from Steward.
Just a couple of weeks waiting.
Next one on the list is the new AF-S 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED Fisheye, but I have to sell a couple of lenses first;
Sigma 8/3.5 shaved Nikon 10.5 and chipped Nikon 16/2.8 AI-s. All mint of course.
Thanks for all the positive comments on the first bridge image. It's from months ago. I often ask David's opinion of images before I post. He thought it was boring, so I held off. It was my trollish curmudgeonliness that motivated me to post it anyway. David was an ICU nurse for many years. He often said that he liked it when patients got cranky. It showed they were getting better and had enough energy to complain.
