It's a Great Egret not a swan (Great Egret - longer neck with big "kink" in it)
Thanks Andy... you can tell this is not my forte. My friend George always lists the botanical name of the trees and flowers he shoots, perhaps because his work often ends up in one calendar or another. I complimented him one time about how knowledgeable he is about such things and he laughed. He sends copies to a botanist friend who identifies everything for him... I need help from folks on this thread to understand flora and fauna.
Been quite a long while since I've been able to post anything here, but have been visiting often and making good use of the like button... there is always so many great images being shared on this thread!
My wife's Iris's have just starting blooming so I thought I'd take a quick minute to snap a couple images of them with the trusty 85AIS f/1.4 mounted on my Df.

Steward, a lot of us have listed our lenses in our profiles. I'm sure you've seen Rafael's photo collection shots. I've not done a group photo of mine in a while, but I do have them all listed You do know that this place will be hazardous to your wallet....

Yes Laura, I already saw Rafael's photo collection shots. That's why I bought a Nikkor 15/3.5 AIS @ FM Buy-Sell board but I found it didn't meet my expectation for the condition of the lens itself and it's the lens difficult to master. I rarely need that FL so I only kept it one weekend
The 8/2.8 AIS Circular fisheye which I do see available from time to time on Yahoo.Japan auction for around $1000, cheaper than ebay listing but it doesn't on my "wanted" list
Beside Nikon, I do collect Canon FD glass, Leica-M glass and some vintage Alpa and Angenieux lenses too.
A little project of mine has been to find and document the emblems on headstones at the National Cemetery here. So far I have captured 37 of them. These are shot with my 105 f/2.5 AI-s lens

Very well executed shots. I find my AI-S 105/2.5 handles pretty well the highlights. I'm trying to take it out tonight for the festival of lights in Sydney (Vivid Sydney).

Looks like you'll be an excellent member of this thread. Plenty of more Nikkors for you to buy to complete your collection
I’ve been out of commission all week with dangerously low blood pressure. Finally this afternoon I picked up a camera with the 28/2.8 AI-s, and the aperture blades were sticking. I last used it about 3 weeks ago, and it was fine at that time. I’m hoping this is only a simple clean and lube job. It’s so annoying to have equipment problems just as the notoriously wet weather here starts to co-operate.
Since I’m feeling like a cranky old troll, here are 2 troll’s-eye views of Portland bridges.

Reagan, did you see the Wave when you were at the Valley of Fire? Just before sunset is amazing. I only had AF lenses on a DX camera with me when I was there, so nothing to post here. On the drive back to Vegas, David and I saw a meteor [or maybe space debris] streak across the night sky and break into 3 pieces, each leaving a glowing trail.
Lovely set Ken. I'm especially fond of the first photo. I love how you converted it. So much in the photo to appreciate. You have an excellent eye for framing images. Nicely done.
I trust that folks understand John, when you speak of "fueling" that submarine, you're talking about nuclear fuel, not diesel...
I worked for fifteen years at Vallejo, CA, which was home of Mare Island Naval Shipyard. It closed down during the time I was there but they'd built a great number of nuclear subs, many of which returned for servicing. The Shipyard was on the Napa River, which is quite narrow, so we'd see the subs in the yard and in the river.
