Hope all are fine and safe from from this coronavirus.
After a long time, I am posting an image here.
Yesterday at night, with a relatively clean sky ("collateral effect" of the virus...), I tested for the first time the Z7 with my "heavy artillery".
Contrary to Rafael findings with the Z6+800/5.6, without Electronic Front Curtain activated my images were blurry up to 1/125s, but with this resource I can get sharp images even at 1/20 or 1/40s !
Rafael, have you tried the latest firmware?
Z7+ FTZ + TC301 + Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 ai-s EDIF (=1600mm f/11) + Gimbal head + tripod; ISO 200, f/16 (8x2) at 1/40s. Electronic Front Curtain shutter activated - 5sec timer. 14.63/45.44MP=32.2% cropped.
And I forgot to activate the IBIS (in body VR), so it appears jut front curtain and 5s timer were enough to avoid blurring.
The weather took a turn for the worse so, the lighting isnt as nice. Leaving the homeoffice for a few hours is always worth it though.
Nikon 500mm f4 Ai-P on a Sony body.
Ben, what superb samples with this tele. I had two copies in different times of this tele but I was unlucky since both were not the sharpest specimens. Glad to see your copy of the lens is in superb shape and is put for a good use in capable hands.
Keep more samples coming!

Colin, Chris, Mark... Delft. Rinie worked there for many years at Deltares, an institute associated with the University specializing in harbor design and water related problems. She road her bicycle from central Rotterdam. She lives on an island in the midst of the Maas River. I spent hours at the window watching the barges pass by. And to Chris, my first visit with Rinie I attended as small wedding in that town hall for two of her friends who were part of the Rotterdam Chorus. I was very honored. It was that day that I took what became a favorite photo from the trip that I've posted here a number of times... and will again. Taken with the 50 f/1.2 AI-s. It is really important to remember I was honestly a beginner with these lenses when I took them to the Netherlands. It was likely that trip that cemented my relationship with these lenses and became my motivation for keeping this thread alive during the early years as it was developing a following. Delft is wonderful and I really enjoyed meeting the fine people of that country. I met you Chris, on my second visit in 2015.
I visited with my wife and mother-in-law. My niece was graduating from her 6 month course at Delft University's school of architecture. Her doting grand-mother wanted to be there so we chaperoned her. I had plenty of time to explore early morning and late evening.
This one from behind the town hall. I had to wait a while for a vehicle to go by.
Different day, different composition.
I tried a 5 frame focus stack at f/1.2
The DoF is so thin I thin the stack is more like a series of slices
Interesting comparison though.
I took a ramble yesterday and walked down San Anselmo Avenue through the heart of our small downtown. There are about 12,000 people in this small town, one of many that are scattered through central Marin. Mount Tamalpais is a presence wherever you are. Here, looking down the street with the tower from Town Hall on the left and the mountain in the distance. Following that are two photo taken through shop windows, the first an architect's office, the second an artist's studio... Just this side of town hall is Imagination Park created by George Lucas who lives here and who has been very generous with his home town. He wrote a number of his movies while living here and created Industrial Light and Magic as well as Lucas Films not too far from here. At the moment a landscaping project he funded is completely changing one entrance to the community. The street is directly below his home on an adjacent hill.
I'll share more from the ramble later but I have a luncheon date with a friend and NEED a shower. Our plan is to sit apart from one another on benches in her condo complex, each bringing our own food. Afterwards she will show me her garden and perhaps I'll take a few photos... keeping proper distance between us. Living alone is just that... lonely. After seeing her I intend to take a walk near Sue's home. I need some contact with people in person. Using Zoom and FaceTime is great... but I miss being WITH people...

I've had to use Zoom twice meeting with the City Manager, I like it.
Maybe we should set up a Zoom meeting for folks on this thread... I have a Zoom "pro" account which allows for meetings UP TO 100 people...
I do three 12 Step meetings each week on Zoom and have a meeting with some friends once a week. Some friends do family reunions with folks internationally. You and I shared one Skype call as I remember. We'd need to pick a time that isn't too late for our friends in Europe... perhaps 10 a.m. Pacific, 1 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. in Europe... Any thoughts?

Sounds like fun.
Do the cameras on our respective, laptops, ipads, or whatever need to have Nikon lenses?

Nice through the window images Curtis. The design in the architects office definitely has a California look to it. The artist studio window is a very pleasing composition.
