Laura, I'm with you on garlic .... it's greeeeaat!

Joseph welcome back and nice shots!
Colin that cat looks too relaxed, great composition!
Sar beautifully lit harbor and well captured.

Yesterday I posted some shots of Sedona while on a Jeep tour. The "Pink Jeep" fleet there numbers over a 100 and its well worth the price. The driver was very good, informative and stayed on the trail. So, today my honors go to the pink Jeep.

Yup, the 18mm starred in this and YES I know the sensor is a bit dirty.

Thanks Ken. I'm really enjoying your Sedona/AZ shots!

In anticipation of our trip to the Kruger Park, starting tomorrow with a 21/2 day drive from Knysna, I played around with the 500 f8 mirror lens on the D70 as a 2nd camera. As it won't meter with any MF glass its a bit of guesswork to get the exposure right. I also did a comparison with my Sigma 50-500 'Bigma' to see which lens gave better results.

There's not much to choose although from an exercise point of view the 4.4 lb of the Sigma certainly gives the user a workout.

Just for fun I'll post both shots - I've decided to take both lenses too although I'll probably be using the trusty D200 with either the 300 4.5 EDIF or the 80-200 f4 most of the time.

Both focus stacked

Too bad you missed the one I sold off last year. Tony (Kings Freak) bought it. I found I had a duplicate, so one got sold. I'm not selling the one I have, either.

Yes, but at that time I wasn't interested in the lens.

Nice! I will be heading to the North Carolina coast in a couple weeks.

If your travels ever take you on I-40/I-85 through central North Carolina give me a heads up

You were riding with the same company started by a realtor who turned it into a profitable touring company. The guide said in the 60's the founder and his wife went to Hawaii on vacation and stayed in a "pink" hotel. There and then he knew the color to brand his jeeps.

I took with me the 600mm f5.6 AIS + TC-14b. Got some shots in 30 mins time frame with no tripod. I rested the lens on the tree though. Here is one of them. Will share more when I have time later.

Glad you found us... this is clearly where you belong, with all those manual focus Nikkor lenses. Welcome, and don't hesitate to join in the conversation. We have a good friend in Texas, Alan Hudson, who was active years ago and still drops by from time to time. We can always use more photos from your fair state.

It's a Great Egret not a swan (Great Egret - longer neck with big "kink" in it)

For sure!

I had breakfast this morning with a woman who lives just north of Cincinnati and mentioned I have friends in the area who share an interest in photography. Amazing to realize how long we've been doing this! I guess simply keeping track of your brood helps you put it all in perspective. It is fun seeing photos on the thread of your kids growing up Chuong. Glad you still have a bit of time for photography.
