Guys,

Which 50 mm f/1.7 MD Rokkor to get? The one with 49 mm filter thread or the one with 55 mm filter thread?

Thanks/Brgds,

Chris......

the 55mm one will have better build quality and be heavier, not sure how it compares optically though.

Hmm, If I don't post these now, probably never will.
I really hate posting from laptop edits.
And now trying a new way to resize them via the image processor, not sure how these are going to look.
Shrug.

These are all from Canon 5DMkII and Minolta Rokkor 58f1.2 with Minolta #2 close up lens.

The close focus lens seems to cause "blooming" at f2 or less.
Blooming, as in "dreamy" images.
I'll have to post some examples.

wow great pictures !! i found this page today and in fact i watched all your pics

today i bought a rokkor MD 50 1.2 , but i am not shure if i shall try to convert it. i did 58 1.2, that was easy, 28 2.0, that was not easy and i am afraid, that 50 1.2 will be difficult. few weeks ago i bought the 85 1.7 and i think that will be easy - really looking forward

below you see some of my favored rokkor 58mm pictures at f/1.2 on E-520 and then 5D MarkII. i hope, they are not too many ....

best, L.

lovely shots! the 50/1.2 is actually a very easy conversion, simple mount replacement, none of the extra stuff involved in the 28/2 conversion.

Anyone want to sell their Rokkor 58mm f/1.2?
Plan to use it on a EOS 5D II, so either original mount or EOS converted.

I have been outbidded too many times on ebay...

PM me, or send me a Flickr-mail!

Here is a recent 58mm f/1.2 shot that I entered in the weekly assignment this week. The DOF is so thin that I was able to get the frame for the mirror in sharp focus, but keep the surface of the mirror blurred. The idea is that seeing yourself as you are or knowing yourself is difficult.

The real reason is that your reflection is 2x the distance of the frame.

It's actually quite easy once you figure out their method,
from your Flickr feed, click the image, which brings you to the comments page for that image, just above the image is "actions" an envelope, Facebook & Twitter icons and an upside down triangle, click the last one, click "Grab the HTML/BBCode" tab if it's not open, then select "BBCode" and the size you wish, then all you do is copy the text in the box and paste it in the FM reply box and you're done. If you don't like all the text under your image, just copy the first 3 lines.

Even though I have hardly used mine(due to mirror issues) I won't be selling it.
May I suggest a WTB in the buy &sell, or increase your max bid.

When it's pictures of this quality, more is better, although you should number them and/or break them up into sets of 4-5, as it makes it easier to comment on them.

Great stuff, thanks for posting.

Great shots everyone!!

On a whim, I picked up one of the chinese glassless adapters for my Nikon D40 and Rokkor lenses. Obviously, since the adapter is glassless, only macro shots are allowed. On these, I used my MC Rokkor-PF 58mm f1.4 wide open. Good focus is tough as DOF is razor thin. But I think that with some more practice, I could get some pretty good shots. Overall, I'm happy with the adapter and these shots. Not bad for $21.

Leady, that large set had some amazing shots that really showcased the wild but beautiful bokeh of the Rokkor.

Katie, love the eye shot. Reminds me if a cool Annie Lennox album cover a few years back.

Sebboh, awesome goslings. Looks like a rugby scrum.

I had some friends over for a BBQ last weekend. My buddy Eric was tossing his daughter Izzy into the air, and I grabbed this quick shot with the Rokkor 58/1.2 at f/2 on a Canon 5D. Love this Rokkor color...
