Thanks sebboh,
Though the cherry blossom 8 bit sRGB jpg web view appears to be very soft compared to my local 16 bit ARGB .tif view.
I am having a hard time generating web viewing files, sigh...
fantastic shots everyone! i'm excited because i got two new toys: i replaced my minolta xe5 which had a shutter return issue with an xd11 and i should finish the first test role of film in a couple days, and i finally picked up a rokkor 58/1.2 from another FMer. hopefully it'll get here later this week.
May I ask what you think a fair price is for the 28/2 lens? I've just lost a bid on ebay for one, and am considering bidding on another. How much is reasonable? There are VERY few on there, too ... so take that into consideration. I would like to have it both for my NEX and for the film Minolta (which is SUCH A NEAT little camera - I want to use it more!!!).

that depends on what you mean by fair. they've always been a little pricey due to rarity, however like most MD/MC lenses, the price fell off a cliff with the popularity of digital and to a lessor extent autofocus since you couldn't use them on modern cameras without a difficult conversion. mirrorless cameras seem to be reversing this trend though. currently there is a low demand for this particular lens and a low supply so prices can be all over the place. i've seen it sell for a little over $150 or a little over $400 in the past year (55mm filter thread version, i've only seen the 49mm filter thread version once). i think if you are willing to wait a a few months and lose a few auctions you should probably be able to get one for $250 or under. if you want one sooner you'll probably have to pay $300-$400. i don't think these prices are particularly unfair though since that is right in the price range of the oly and nikon 28/2 lenses. i should warn you, the 55mm filter thread version is a rather large lens, bigger than your 50/1.2, so it's a little awkward on a NEX.

Thanks so much for your input. It does look to be larger - and as much as I am enjoying my 50 1.2, I think I need to have one. I do intend to use it on both the NEX and the XG1. I so much prefer to shoot film (yes, I am one of those). I am primarily using the NEX for instant gratification family pictures and newspaper deadline images (believe it or not, I am shooting this tiny thing for the paper now - I am in a tiny little town hehe and cover the local arts community's functions/auctions/auditions/events/etc...
I will throw my hat back in the ring for this next one I found. The last one went for under $300 ... so I wanted to check and make sure that sounded right to you (the Rokkor expert, IMO).

thanks, i think debuggarus and few others might be more of a rokkor expert than me though.

I have issues directly embedding to FM threads via flickr which doesn't make a lot of sense.
Eh?
I use a simple site that lets me host files.
I don't use flicker, I don't like that filcker kills exif data.
Not that my exif data using manual lenses tells anyone much...
Speaking of exif and alt lenses, I think I am going to have to put a .txt file in each directory when I u/l the CF card to my machine.
This would hopefully help me to remember more settings information of the shots, rather than try and remember things from last weeks session.

go to the image's page on flickr, then go to the "actions" pull down and select "view all sizes", then view the size you want to embed, finally right click on the image and select "copy image location" (or "copy image url" depending on browser?) and paste that url into FM forum text.

A few portraits from me of my kiddos on the NEX 5 with the Rokkor 50 1.2. Love this setup. I just ordered the 24 2.8 Rokkor... needed to have another one. Still can't find a reasonably priced 28 2.0. Anyone here use the 35 VFC?
love the first one. i've never been able to find a 35 VFC at a decent price, they tend to go much higher than the 28/2.
