Charlie, thank you for agreeing with me on the 35 biogon I wouldn't advise you to do the opposite, give them the M9 to play with and shoot with the A7
No, not my first M, have still a M8 and M6 in the vitrine sitting and oc. some glass.
Got hold on a chrome MM on a very good price, these are my very first shots with the Monochrom, so far i am very pleased, but have to shoot way more to find a real verdict for me.
My "main" cam will still be the A7R, but Leica is a question of heart you can not resist....
Thank you Werner! I know exactly what you mean about Leica. Beware though, the M 240 can easily replace your A7r as your main cam. Just don't get near any of them

Katie - very nice balancing and composition. Like how you framed the young ladies with just a hint of a sign to the left, sign above and a vase to the right. Works well.

Werner I enjoy how you captured the lighting with the brightness in the centre of Hope. Sax and Gehry - Just awesome tonality. Do I detect a hint of Cyan?
Edward - The 1st image nice contrast of person in background and the birds in the foreground. They appear to be the same height. Nicely captured. The Ugly Bokeh why do I have this desire to snack on some Goldfish. If you make the right moves you will have me in checkmate in 6 moves. Lastly love the hat shot, nice background colour and bokeh make the hat standout and in the 1st shot I like how the the pick preserver standouts. Normally our eyes are attracted to red but in this shot the pink preserver is noticed before the red umbrellas.
A couple of shots that I may use for my assignment. The assignment is to take a picture with the sun in it and not silhouetted (and the sun must show not be hidden behind the primary object). There must also be a second object which is the primary object of the picture. It must be attached to the ground and can not be a tree (Thus no clouds,birds, planes) and no Post is permitted.

@Ron re forest fires, natural or man-made, no worries, but as you can imagine those living in path of mega-fires are sensitive to the distinction, which is not widely appreciated, but fully embraced by the fire service itself.

Here are four shots taken with the Summilux-50 pre-ASPH: the first one is with the M-Monochrom (ISO 1250) and the three colour pictures (ISO 640) with the M9-P. On the processing, for M-Monochrom files I usually just use Lightroom 5, although sometimes I apply a VSCO preset: mainly "Neopan 1600-" (without the grain) and "Tri-X-". However, I find that for some pictures I cannot get the "depth" I want unless I use Silver Efex — the trouble is that it's a "trial-and-error" process and I never know in advance when Silver Efex will work better. For the M-Monochrom shot below I used Silver Efex with some dodging and burning in Lightroom. Then, after I had the picture looking like I thought I wanted it, I accidentally clicked on a colour VSCO preset, "Fuji Superia 400-", which gave the look that I wanted.
For colour with M9 files, I've generally found that I can the colours and light that I want by just using Lightroom, and that using either VSCO or Replichrome presets, which I've been trying out, doesn't add anything. That is how the picture of the stuffed wolf with necklace was processed. However, for the other two colour pictures, I found that using the Replichrome "Fuji Pro 400H Frontier+" preset gave the luminance that I wanted (with further slight adjustments in Lightroom).
Funny things happened yesterday. I went back to Bar U Ranch National Historic site to do more shooting for my assignment. Took both the Monochrom and 1DX. Upon arrival took a few shots with the 1DX of a statue out front with flash. After 3 shots the battery showed dead. Interestingly when I left home it showed fully charged and of course forgot the spare battery at home. Still had my trusty Monochrom.
The staff recognized me from the day before. Even the cat that befriended me the day before came over and visited me.
My orginal plan was some flash fill shots with the 1DX but since that was out of the question I decided I would do some different angles, such as lying down on my back on the ground, crawling under old era farm equipment. I could hear in the distance as the wagoneers were giving their tours they were explaining to the passangers I was working on a photography course assignment. Nothing like being part of the attraction.
After I was done shooting I went back to my vehicle turned on the 1DX and once again the camera came to life. Sometimes fate takes us in a different direction than planned and I must say just using the Monochrom with the only M lenses I brought (Voigtlander 15 and Zeiss 35) made for a different enjoyable day than what was planned.

Great photos everyone.. I'm about (Wednesday) to head out of country, will probably be without internet for a while. Had a quick question though, since I haven't found a suitable solution yet.
Sometimes I don't want to take my camera bags with me on trips. Instead I pack a stowaway suitcase with my clothes etc inside, and I bring a leather or canvas duffle onboard with me. What I do in that case is put my M lenses in there leather pouches. But I haven't found a good solution for an unmounted M camera. What I do now, so you get an idea, is put the camera bodies in a clean shoe bag. But that's not ideal, since the bag isn't padded, aside from wrapping around the camera twice-ish.
Any ideas of what I could do? I see those leather (deerskin) wraps, and they're not a bad idea for travel (wouldn't keep my camera in those bags long term, but a day in transit would be fine). Though I'd feel safer if the camera were in a more padded case.
Anyone in this situation and have an good answer?
Getting the itch to go Leica digital. I've had M6s back in 2008 and 2010. I loved the idea of shooting the Leica much more than processing film. I was never able to enjoy it. So I've followed Leica's digital path. I have good friends who own the Monochrom and the M240.
I was able to take a quick walk a few weeks ago with a m240 and zeiss sonnar. I really enjoyed the experience.
I wouldn't advise you to do the opposite, give them the M9 to play with and shoot with the A7
