I start seeing 'magic' in this lens (could be any lens touching me) make me think any lens could be yours for certain reason, I don't need/like perfect lens. I use it a lot before, but I don't think I know it well and understand it. lenses like human, I don't like perfect human, not even close. I love its flaw as well. it deserve/require you pay attention, know them....my philosophy on gear is changing, keep changing
Zhangyue, love the last set, and photo no. 2 is exquisite. I fully understand your point on flawed lenses. I find myself prefering the look of older non-asph Leica lenses in practically all Leica image threads around.

Haha, I can appreciate this feeling. I've been in photography for over 20 years and have spent a lot of money on things like Canon super-tele lenses, so dropping large coin isn't unfamiliar, but for some reason, I got pangs of apprehension with certain Leica purchases... The M9 I bought used in 2010, which started it all. I knew DSLRs inside out and wasn't sure spending the money on a Leica instead of a second 1DIV was a wise move... Then the impulse buy of the 21/1.4 - so much $$$ for 'just' a wide angle lens... And somewhat the same feeling about the M240 earlier this year, perhaps because I wasn't sure it was quite the big enough improvement over the M9 for the money...
Anyway, congrats on the purchase and hopefully it's what you expect it to be. Make sure you give it time to be sure it does, or does not, work for you.
Not much to contribute at the moment, but here's an example of a ~3-stop push showing the green shadow problem from an ISO 200 M240 file. The first from an untouched DNG, the second having been processed by the Lightroom plug-in available here. BTW, this is now available for both Mac and Windows.
With the 28 Cron. Ignore the purple fringing in the branches this time... the difference in the shadows is pretty noticeable if you flip between the images in separate browser windows.
OK, here are some cat portraits done with the 90AA while visiting friends...
Second one was cropped around 15%, last one cropped around 30%. All were with EVF focus. I found I could often get very good focus precision/consistency with this lens wide open without having to magnify to confirm focus... and this is with peaking turned off. The tilt of the EVF also helped tremendously for the low angle shots. I've done similar with the M9 by just guessing, but not with such a long focal length.
Ron - they are not duck shots but are certainly the next best thing (aside from benches). Thanks for sharing that plugin - it looks to be quite effective judging from your samples.
^^^ Gary, I don't know what drugs you switched to lately, but I really enjoy your newest images. Whatever it's, please continue as latest simplicity and framing/composition of your shots are really outstanding!
Wow - thanks for the compliment Jack! I haven't been using drugs but I will confess to having a few pints of Pilsner Urquell prior to taking many of my recent shots. BTW - when are you going to give in and buy a Leica?

Gary, I feel that Leitz’s mechanical precision is unparalleled so perhaps one day I will get M6 for the handful of RF glass I currently use (though Leica-R lenses on Nikon FE2 with split RF screen work well for my film shots

Great shots, I especially like the second one.
I feel that way too (although I need a certain level of sharpness before I like a lens). It's weird, but when you start using different lenses in the same focal length, you realise very quickly how the subtle quirks can make or break an image. And it almost boarders on crazy!
My wife is like this now. Some days she makes me use the Noctilux, or the Summilux, or the Summicron.. Depending on the makeup she's wearing and the kind of shot she wants.

Michael, I agree with you on the qualities of that 35 cron of yours. Very nice images with a beautiful rendering of your son and daughter in the last two sets.
Ron, impressive cat images with the 90 AA Cron. Personally I'll stick with my 90 Elmar for the M9 because I find it hard enough to focus wide open.

Q: why if I set it to AutoISO and put the minimum shutter at 1/125th, is it still going below that shutter speed, in Aperture Priority? Even when it hasn't reached the max ISO. Have I overlooked something? Sort of seems like the minimum shutter speed setting is redundant if it's just going to do what it wants. Not complaining just want to get it setup right first

It's a safety feature, so you don't get a black image. Basically, it'll go up to your max iso, before it force-ably changes your shutter speed to lower then what you asked it to do.
If you don't want it to go under, set your shutter speed manually along with your aperture. Then just let the auto ISO fly.
Honestly though, you get best results shooting manually. Even if you have to take one or two test shots first to set the settings for the environment.

Got it, thanks! I just tried again and I think I'd not pressed the "set" button when changing the max ISO (bit different to other cameras using "set", isn't it?), so it was stuck on 800 still. I've put it up to 5000, which I get the impression will be fine, maybe even up to 6400, we'll have to see.
That makes perfect sense anyway, thank you. I am planning on mostly using it in M mode, just wanted a quick a-mode setup tuned in too

That is not how it works. Something must be wrong. The camera will set the minimum shutter speed and up to half a stop faster until it reaches the maximum iso.
