One entry for one of the coolest older neighborhoods in Knoxville... The neighborhood is nice because riverfront property in it is reserved by knoxville parks and recreation. Favorite spot for walking and running... Much to the dislike of at least some residents probably. It's not far from a Civil War site called "Bleak house". Yes, Bleak house was named after the Charles Dickens novel by the same name. Someday, I'll try to get to Bleak House when it's open, and shoot some photos of the Cannonballs left in the walls, and the drawing of the 3 sharpshooters that were killed by Union cannonballs there.
The battle seems a little deceving to me. Knoxville was never under that strong of confederate control, or it never had that much of a Confederate"backing" by the people anyway. The Union troops were apparently welcomed here once they established control. but I guess that's a story for another day, when I shoot Bleak house.
I've been trying to post for a while ... seem to be having issues! Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. I hope all is well with everyone!
My sister was married day before yesterday. Some pictures from the event... I'll be posting more as I process. All were shot on an M Type 240 with either the 35mm Lux ASPH FLE or the 50mm Lux ASPH. I love this camera for events.
Getting ready 01 - 50 Lux at f/2.8
Mom and my wife helping her get ready - 35 Lux at f/1.4
My sister's friend helping her get ready - 50 Lux at f/1.4
More great shots on this page (and earlier). In particular, I loved the iPad photos Katie, and the first shot of your sister Arka.
I finished off New Year's Eve with a quick trip to Mount Stromlo, an observatory devastated by bushfire in January 2004.
IR shots taken with a filter pretty much held in place in front of my CV21/4, at ISO160 or 320 on my Leica M8.
Is the false colour better than the straight B&W?
HAPPY NEW YEAR to global FM members from New Year's Day here in Australia - it's 1:20am here and I've just PPd my last 2013 shots, but in this New Year!
Arka- your Sister looks Stunning in her wedding dress, congratulations to her and your family.
Monochrome Vs False-Color IR, I've seen good examples of both. To me- "full-Spectrum" cameras produce the best false-color, much like IR Ektachrome. If you are shooting just IR, the color dye in the Mosaic filter is past the cutofff, and all pixels are sensitive to IR. They behave similar to a Monochrome IR camera. I have one of each, Monochrome Full-spectrum Kodak and a color Full-spectrum converted Olympus EP2.
Thanks Brian, indeed I am thinking of having my Nex-5N converted to full-spectrum, however I also enjoy the challenge of trying to get the focus sufficiently accurate by guesstimation on the M8
Arka, your sister does look so beautiful for her wedding day. Your family must be very proud of her and she must be so very happy. Thanks for sharing these private family photos with us.
I guess it's time to say bye to Christmas, and hello new year!
I sort of messed up my frame line on the left I thought I was shooting on, oops. But it's ok, there's a hoe in teh photo anyway, ruining it from being perfect anyway, lol.
