Thanks Ron, Charles and Ryan. Yes, I was the "official" photographer and it was a happy accident.. and it kind of reminded me of the Last Supper. Can't plan for these shots and a rangefinder camera certainly helped

Ron, do give the 90AA a try if you find one, they seem to be hard to come by. The copy that I have looks new and seemed to be able to focus spot on, I'm probably buying it off my buddy... now to hunt for a third kidney somewhere to pay for it...

Charles, more pretty models The last one with the 75Lux is excellent!

Ryan, congrats on the 24SE. Nice set and brick walls! From the pics Joakim posted on this thread, and now from you, it looks like a winner. There is certainly a "presence" to those shots, hard to explain but its probably the rendering signature?

-----
Just a sidetrack, I've been experimenting with a NEX7 and for me, focus peaking doesn't really help for critical focus wide open with M glass, maybe I need more time practicing. I get more accuracy if I magnify the view on the LCD. Am pretty impressed with the NEX 7, yes the files are grainy even at ISO400/800 range but it prints well, very film like. I took a couple of ISO6400 and 12800 shots and it looks similar to Tri-X EI400. Very workable. The pp workflow is miles apart from the M9 dng, but its a nice compliment to the M9 if you stick to 35mm or longer lenses. So far, the 28Cron, CV 35/2.5 has color cast on right side. The 35FLE and 90AA works great with no color cast. The biggest drawback with these crop sensors is that the Leica "look" is missing from the files. Yes, they are sharp but lens signature disappears. With the M8 1.33x crop, I could still sense the rendering of the M lenses, but with the 1.5Crop of the Sony NEX7, its not there. Lets see what Leica announces this coming May 10th.

Gary check this link out. I think someone on FM also posted this previously. It worked for me on LR4 and Win7.

Blue Bonents are out in Texas, drove an hour out of Houston to have a look. Not as profilic this year as in others (at least where we went). Did not get any great shots but still a fun day none the less.

Leica M8 28mm Summicron ASPH

A lot of great shots recently but I don't have time to go through them all. One quick comment, twok - that fisherman photo is excellent! Keep posting all, it motivates me to get out there

Thanks Charles & Joe

Charles - I really like the B/W posted above...you snuck that one in

Joe - the M9 is really the perfect camera for most of us posting in this forum. The NEX-7 and Fuji X-Pro1 look like great attempts, but fail so miserably with M glass. The NEX-5N is probably the best of the bunch with M glass but the ergo just isn't for me. Not to mention, I want a plain camera where all I need to adjust is shutter & iso....nothing else is as simple as a Leica. The rangefinder patch I think is one of the keys. Although not perfect, it is the best way to keep the camera simple right now. I think the best hope for the near future is Leica coming out with their own version, which then makes you stop and think, why bother?

Ash - great colors with the 28 Cron! Really like #2 and the depth of #3

a few more 24 Elmar.

Thanks for the comments.

Ron,
the 85 Sonnar shots are very well executed. (From here and 85 Sonnar thread) It reminds me my MP100 ZF. Very contrast lens, sharp but has fringing problem out of focus plane. For f2 without Apo, this is insane expensive lens. But, if you want f2 at this focal length with Zeiss performance/color, there is no other option. From MTF, this belongs to an elite lens performance group for sure.
As for 50lux, I am too excited to ask them ship it air, so it is still on the way to me I will compare it to Sonnar once I had it. I agree I don’t need this lens or any other lens; it will not make me a better photographer for sure. But 50mm is my favorite focal length and read/see so many good thing about it make me can’t resist it. Out of stock anywhere, and suddenly became available also did a little pushing me over the edge.
I really like your whole series of Hockey team pictures. Especially, look through those kids’ face expression showing toughness, confidence…Like reading through a SI article. All shots are rock solid with anchor point to draw my eyes on. Good work.

Ryan,
Your VC35 shots are beautiful, especially the 3rd one with flower around the tree.
About 24 Elmar: you have an impressive brick wall there Nice framing. Look forward to see more images come from you and 24E.
My VC35 is first version, as I replied in another VC35 thread, it is an excellent performer in terms of wide open sharpness, slow it down, it can be wonderful landscape lens as well.

Nate,
the fishing man shot are very inspiring.

Charles,
Nice series of street portrait from Thailand. Look forward to see more from your Thailand trip. I especially like 50lux shot with old lady from previous pg. sure 24lux portraits are rock as ever.

Joe,
Very interesting background lighting in your 35lux shot.
the toy I was referring is NEX-7, but just realize you have 90 AA now Need more picture from that 90.

Ash,
Nice series. I like 2nd one the best for the composition.

Only one photo to share. 90 Elmarit wide open. I took this one while waiting for my daughter’s swimming class. It was very dark for 2.8 lens. At about 1/25s.

Thanks zhangyue. Nice "retro" colors to your 90 Elmarit shot. Have fun when the 50Lux arrives!

Ash, love that 1st cow shot with the 28Cron.
Ryan, more nice shots with the 24 Elmar. The 2nd one is my favorite. I agree, I like the M simplicity much more than other cameras. I'm basically using the NEX for video and some backup use, but nevertheless its an interesting camera for the price point. If Leica switches to a different sensor, live view and video might be a possibility, would be interesting.

I completely agree! I have tried the NEX 5N, and was looking forward to the Fuji Pro, and yet why bother for now. The advances will benefit camera designs, but for now the M9 is just great...with its quirks

Joe, Ryan, Michael and Nate, thank you
Ash, nice shots! Fav is #2. Great colours in the blue bonnets
Ryan, more very nice shots with the 24 E I really like the sharpness and rendering
Joe, nice slow shutter capture!!
Hilmar, congrats on the 50 Nocti... again!! If you get bored with it, I am sure there a few here that may help you out Nice shots!
Nate, another excellent shot! Great lighting and composition. I really liking the 21 SEM

I like the unique way the Noctilux draws an image. It's not a one trick pony (although I admit the photos I uploaded seem to suggest that because they are quite similar and rather candid shots).

I met up with Ron last week and we did a mini shoot. It was lots of fun, and I tested out quite a few of his lenses! He tested my ZM 85mm. I had just received my Summicron 28mm, which is currently my favourite lens!

So here are a few from that day, lots more to come...

Thanks Michael, Joe, Charles

Hilmar - nice shots with the Noct! The sharpness at f/.95 is really incredible

Nate - another great shot from Myanmar! Did you have to pull a lot out of the shadows? The colors and contrast look very good. That lens seems pretty much flare resistant

Andrew - nice set! my favorite is #3, I think Ron has shot that door before if I remember correctly. Great colors. I wish I had someone around here that I could shoot with, I would be shocked if anyone else in Savannah even owned a Leica

Armando - great portrait with the 50 Lux ASPH! A rendering that is unmatched

Joe88 - I do think that cow shot shows what the cron rendering is all about.
Andrew - the 28 Cron is my favourite too - a great mix of old and new style with a perfect focal length on the M8. I'm worried it won't be as usable on an M9... eek
Charles - A shame the lady on the left isn't as expressive as the others, otherwise great shot.

Hilmar, nice shots with the 50/0.95. Looks like there is no supply problem with this lens where you are?
Nate, another nice one, I like how you positioned the flare on this.
Andrew, congrats on your 28Cron. Love that 3rd shot.
Armanius, nice portrait with the 50Lux.
Ryan, noooo... now I have 24Elmar lust! Like the 1st & 3rd shots a lot. The rendering on the 75Lux is also beautiful!
Charles, more excellent stuff with the 75Lux. Hope you recover soon.

Seekuh, Nice series. I may never to able to own it, but certainly enjoying the pictures here.

Nate, nice compose and interesting lighting.

Andrew, Nice set of 28 cron, my favorite is 3rd

Armando, The portrait shows nice 50lux rendering.

Ryan, First is my favorite. want see more 24 samples as I am interested in this focal length for the time being.

Charles, I can certainly understand your fighting time for shooting the portrait of three lady is very pop with good feeling of presence, agree that expression of left lady draws my attention make me wish if….

Here are a few shots from Lincoln Park, San Francisco. There is pretty heavy rain at time of taking these shots. I have to put M9 under cloth, walk around, find location, compose(use mind) and shot and then put M9 under cloth….

We were on our way to Academy of Science, we have a membership there. My kids were sleeping in the car, so I decide drive around to let them sleep more time. To my surprise, I see this beautiful park. More photos to follow.

Hey everyone, been enjoying this thread while I scraped together some scratch to afford joining in. I only have one lens right now which will be fine for a bit. I shoot a variety of subjects including aviation and motorsports. Took this after having camera and lens only two days. Pretty impressed so far. I did not buy it for action photography, but more for storytelling shots and general shooting plus some anticipated street photography.
