Boris, I think both are sharp into the corners on FF pretty much from wide open, so long as you get a good copy. The problem is that at least with the 15, it has very strong vignetting on the M9, which the new firmware seems to do a pretty good job with, though still leaves some residual color. If you want perfection you'll have to use Cornerfix. And, removing so much corner vignetting increases the noise, which becomes more problematic at higher ISOs, at which point I believe the M9 actually reduces corner correction, so you see more false

Thanks Ron! I'm thinking about getting the CV 12, but most of the images I've seen on the web either have soft corners and/or miss the clarity/contrast/colors I get from my Zeiss and Leica lenses.

Boris, it could be hit or miss with quality, based on my impression reading Jeff Hapeman's comments about the lens under some of his Flickr photos with it. I bought mine used, and it's slightly softer on the left 1/3. Hardly noticeable on the M9, but can be more so on some APS-C croppers. I tried a new copy at the store where I bought it and it was much, much worse, with very strong CA and poor corners. In hindsight I kind of wonder if they intentionally let me try a bad copy to make me feel better about the one I bought, because it wasn't representative of the results I've seen from some others. In terms of color and contrast, it will be decent IMO, though different from Zeiss and Leica also. The other 'problem' is Cornerfix, which in my opinion also changes the character of files with its vignetting correction. It wants to brighten corners and darken bright central values, flattening the overall image to some degree.

Looks good Edwin!
Kelly, nice selection. Where are you on vacation? The church (assuming it is) in the first image looks very interesting...

Finally, some photos from me...

28 Cron: Love this lens so far. Very sharp, even wide open.

Thanks Joe, vovkinson, Ron, Kelly,

Ron - without a doubt the longer throw helps with the 75 Lux. It is absolutely perfect. Not too long, not too short. I see your kit has grown very nicely . Love the 28 Cron shots, awesome lens. My favorite are the first two. I am a sucker for cemetary shots...we have a beautiful one here in town as well that has statues and such that look very similar to yours.

Joe - nice shots with the CV 35. I want to see more. Looks very sharp and crisp. What about the bokeh? I have heard it is very good, slightly more harsh than the Summarit. Let me know if you need help on how to get the lens below f/8

Edwin - great capture of your daughter!

Kelly - really like the look of the beach shot

75 Lux again.....I stopped down all the way to f/2 for these shots

Thanks Kelly, Ron, Ryan.
Kelly i like the bird shot

Ron, those shots shows a lot of character...great pp

Ryan, i should minimize looking at those 75lux shots...makes me want it, while lusting on the 24lux as well with Charles' samples

Vovkinson, i have a 1.25x magnifier. But i only use it for far subjects. From mfd of 1m to about 10 meters away, the M 9's finder is fine with me. And i'm wearing glasses

Ryan, Charles, Ron, thanks for feedback about 75lux and tele_lens on Leica. I agree I can see special rendering of 75Lux, especially at close focus distance, part of OOF transition associate with this shallow DOF I think.

Other than focus after 1M, (So can’t get same DOF) I feel Zeiss P85 has similar rendering wide open, but it is pretty hard to get correct focus at 1M. I think M system has some advantage on accurate focus at MFD. I am surprised to find out: it is slower than manual focus by eye by DSLR, but usually more accurate once you get it focus right as long as your lens and Camera are sync well or you know how to compensate it.

Ron, I was going to ask about your 90 problem. I remember there is a discuss about focus throw of new summarit 90 from DetDPI somewhere, seems people prefer this to old long throw of Elmarit and Summicorn ? My Elmarit 90 slightly focus front at minimal distance by several mm. But in real world shooting, it seems within my human error for focusing. I do miss shot but only for very critical sharp standard, otherwise, all the shots seem usable, which is not the case with my D700 with MP100 and P85.

Joe, Nice shots of CV35. It seems a really nice lens, if only it has Leica name on it
Dan, Nice one with the 50lux.
Vovkinson, Nice train shot.
Ryan, Wonderful shots for 75Lux. nice PP. Slightly prefer the B&W version of your daughter's portrait. VC35 is really nice lens, only the size prevents me to use it more.
KKcsm, The last beach shot of 50lux is really nice.
Ron, Very nice set. Now I see you have a full set of Leica lens going. It is time to update your profile about M system?
Edwin, Nice portrait of your daughter. For LR4, you can just go to their website, and select upgrade, it will let you either purchase a hard copy, which I did or download.

I am still waiting for my LR4 Copy to arrive, Adobe is sloppy on customer service, and it took them 3 days to ship my order. Though I doubt the formal copy will improve the speed much, if the new algorithms require a lot more computer power.

Thanks Ryan, Michael and Edwin. Regarding the 90 Summarit: I have to admit, my keeper rate from it was better yesterday, even when shooting wide open, so I still need to use it a lot more to figure out where the problem is. And I didn't use the magnifier either... It's a bit of a quandary for me at the moment. The 50 and 28 seem to be very accurate. BTW, the hood detached from the 50 again, so I will need to look into a suitable solution for it.

Michael, I really like the last one!
Ryan - looks good for a 'macro' lens too.

Thanks Ron, Zhangyue

Kelly, really like the rendering on that last beach shot! Nice.
Edwin, nice rendering on the 90Cron.
Ron, those 28Cron shots are lovely as are the 21, 50Luxes and 90Summarit. How do you like the hood on the 28Cron?
Ryan, nice work with the 75Lux.
Zhangyue, very nice set. Also like your pp on those pics. You are really bringing out the qualities on this lens.

That's about my only complaint about the 90 Summarit. Just a tiny nudge will shift the focus too much. I thought my copy was pretty much perfect on my M9 until the two recent rounds of tuning the M9 …

If you ever want to sell that 90 Summarit for something else, I'm be waiting Although a 90Cron AA is nicer IQ wise, its too big and also too difficult to focus at f/2 for me.

I rather it not have a Leica name on it, else everyone will want to have one for their "bookcase" and we users will have to pay more $$. Its a very good lens, even more so considering what it cost new and how compact the lens is for an everyday walkabout.

Thanks Joe - the 28 Cron hood is OK. Yes, quite some viewfinder blockage, but I've been getting by with it so far. As it is, I can barely see the entire 28mm frame lines so am often composing intuitively rather than precisely. And I've stopped using the 21mm external viewfinder and just going by feel there as well. Works OK for my needs.

I have given some thought to finding a copy of the special optional round vented hood Leica made (or perhaps still does make) for it and the previous version 35 Lux, though $400 is a bit steep.. I like the hood though for handling the lens - it makes it much easier to pull out of the bag, etc. I'm sure if I didn't use the hood I'd many times have gotten my fingers all over the front element. Just have to keep an eye on it that it doesn't eventually loosen (as you mentioned earlier). 90 Cron AA is tempting... though I agree it is large while the Summarit is a nice size.

Kelly, thank you Really like the last shot of the gulls, almost suspended in air.
vovkinson, nice perspective in your shot
Ryan, loving your 75 Lux shots!!! Very nice rePP'd shot of your daughter Amazing you have f/2.0 on the 75 Lux The 75 Lux has amazing rendering at f/5.6 too.
Joe, very nice street shot!! I really like your eye for street compositions.
Edwin, nice capture of your daughter
Ron, superb set of images. Beautiful lighting, composition and lines. I love the shots with the 28 Cron
Michael, nice series, particularly the last shot!

Thanks Charles

Ron, another excellent set. Really nice contrast and tones. Please don't post anymore 90Summarit shots, my wallet is hurting (just kidding)

As I wear glasses, I also have problems looking at the internal framelines with the 28Cron. I have an external CV28 mm finder which helps when I need critical composition. I really hope that in the future Leica could release a M9 or M10 with a lower magnification ratio similar to 0.58x.

Darren - 'stellar' indeed - look at all those starbursts! And great colour.

Thanks Charles and Joe!

Joe - but I don't wear glasses - still have some trouble with the 28mm lines. If Leica were to offer that option, it would be compelling for wide angle shooters. Or maybe they'll take a page from Fuji and devise a 'zoomable' viewfinder. But I think I'd rather have hybrid EVF live view for when composition is more critical.

Apparently we'll find out what Leica is up to on May 10th. Sounds like it's shaping up for a big announcement.

Thanks mate..
Pretty amazed at the star burst effect from the Leica glass as its my first real long exposure stuff with the M9.
Love the IQ of the files the M9 still surprises me.
Also picked up an old Leitz 28F2 and really happy with it as an alternative to a 35 which was to close i thought to my 50.
Lovely lens..the Opera house shot was with it..

I noticed this too with the various rangefinder lenses I now have, and not just night-time shots. I can get interesting (assuming you like the look) star bursts at relatively wide apertures as well as stopped down, and the bursts are much more sharply defined than what I was used to from my Canon glass. But it will probably depend somewhat on the lens and the shape of the aperture at a given f/stop. Do you remember the aperture settings for these photos?

Michael - I really like the last shot you posted, very nice

Ron - a couple of nice sets, how do you keep pumping out so many shots My favorite is the lines in the last shot posted

dehowie - great starburst set! Which lens was that with? I agree, very easy to get the star effect, not so much on my old Nikon gear

Charles - love the look of the portrait

Thanks Charles - love the tonality of the portrait. LR4 looks to be very good for skin tones here.

Thanks Ryan - great feel to those. If I get in a bit of a groove, then I tend to see many photos around me and keep shooting. The problem is I tend to shoot a lot and end up with many images to edit and pp...

some more...
