Thanks Luka Stunning graphic shots! Excellent compositions and combination of colours
Boris, nice captures. #2 would count as a duck shot with all the ducks in the backdrop

Joe, excellent composition and timing! Love this shot
zhangyou, nice set. Really like the shot of the muso!
Carsten, I am totally with you here! Sure there is some great gear just around the corner, but it should not stop us getting out and taking shots! I think there is a place for both, and should be separated, like they do in other forums. I think technical discussion is great, as everyone benefits, and it is really interesting. I do find the discussions of Luka and Ron and many others incredibly helpful

I would contribute, but my M9 and Leica lenses are heading to Solms for recalibration. Very nice sets Michael, Hilmar, Charles, KL! Love the white ghost Joe! Very nice Boris, really shows off the 50 Lux. Luke, like the them all very much. Welcome to the thread lmitch6!

A few quick snaps from our honeymoon in the British Virgin Islands. We had a lovely time on a chartered sloop. Details later or in another thread... needless to say a lot of relaxing, cocktails and lying on Richard Branson's beach.

These are 'published' through LR3's flickr integration, so no white borders which I like to so much...

rscheffler,

how many times per year do you have to send the lens and camera for calibration?
This really scares me. I recently bought M9 (used) plus 2 lenses (apparently not very popular in this threat) Summicron 50 2.0 & 35 2.0 ASPH and so far I'm not noticing any back/front focusing issues.
OR maybe I have to look closer?

Thanks Zhangyue, KL, Luka, Ron, Kelly

Seekuh, really like that fisherman shot with the 24Lux, nice set!
KL, another excellent set of Singapore, love that first shot! Got to love the 28Cron and the 35 Summaron.
Charles, beautiful sunset view with the 24Lux! Excellent. You seem to be shooting a lot with the 24Lux lately?
Luka, excellent shots, love the bright colors.
Boris, nice set of the swans with the 50Lux!
lmitch6, welcome to the thread and congrats on your M9!
Ron, hope your gear returns soon. So have you been experimenting with the GXR lately?
Daniel, nice holiday shots of Melbourne. Really like the bird and tree shots a lot!
Gary, beautiful house!
Kelly, nice bright colors of your daughter at the school carnival. I hope in the longer term, the M9 might help you sneak in a few more shots of your daughter compared to a using a DSLR?
Ash, nice set with the 28Cron!
dgenx24, excellent street stuff! The second shot is superb! My kind of style
Joakim, nice pose with the 35CronIV. Gosh, I really regret selling my copy of this lens. So compact and so much character.

I think it depends on luck sometimes and also how you handle the camera? Both the 35 and 50Cron are stellar lenses. I think the 35Cron is probably Leica's most popular lens while the the 50Cron although not perfect is still an excellent lens. Best to put the camera and lenses on a tripod and do a controlled test. That way you will know if it the lenses or camera is out of calibration.

Joakim, thanks Nice capture and expression!
Joe, thank you The 24 Lux is one amazing lens. It has so many different personalities, bit like the 75 Lux. I tend to be careful using the 24 FL, as it is more difficult to isolate and compose shots.
Dan, the 105/2.5 Nikkor has been a long time favourite lens of mine!!! It complements the 50 Lux really well

vovkinson, do not stress Having the 35 and 50 Cron's the issue rarely is a problem if the M9 is within calibration specs. There is sufficient DOF with these lenses, and assuming the lenses are fine. I never had a issue with the 35

with the camera on tripod , should I use a usual focusing technique (square center frame) or some kind of special optical device?

This is the third time since I bought it used at the end of 2010. The first problem was it wouldn't keep accurate time and Leica replaced the internal battery under warranty. The reason it's in for servicing now is because a couple months ago I had it calibrated with a 50 Lux and they appear to have calibrated the camera to the lens, rather than the other way around, because the camera worked fine with my other Leica lens at the time, as well as many of my Zeiss and Voigtlander lenses. After the calibration, the M9 & 50 were perfect until about 10m, where it began to front focus, and with all other lenses it back focused a fair amount.

I think if you decide to go for faster lenses, like the f/1.4s, that's where you really see minor focusing issues and where perfect calibration is required. Prior to adding the 50, 21 Lux and CV35 f/1.2 I generally found the M9's focusing to be pretty forgiving.

Hi Joe: The GXR isn't bad. I'm not totally in love with it primarily because of the roughly one second delay immediately after each image where it writes to the buffer. If I think I need some spontaneity, I will set it to continuous advance and shoot off 4 frames (the max before the buffer fills), but one annoying quirk is that when you turn off the GXR, it reverts to single frame advance... I'm also missing the M9's analog shutter speed control. Having used a Canon 1 series camera since the early 90s and all the way until the M9 in 2010, I never thought I'd say this... but it's really convenient to be able to change the shutter speed just by looking at the dial, rather than having to look through the EVF or on the LCD display. I find the M9 super easy to use in manual exposure mode... the GXR less so. I also see a fair difference between APS-C and FF. The GXR files, while plenty sharp, just don't seem to have the same level of detail, which might partly be due to it being 12MP, which also limits cropping. What I do love about it is the size and the silent shutter mode - it's simply awesome to have that option. I just wish the shutter release had better feedback to let you know when you've actually pushed it all the way for an exposure - it's too spongy IMO.

I've posted some photos in the GXR and Voigtlander threads....

Great set Dan!
Congrats Ash, great set too, jealous about the weather
dgenx24, love the feel of #2
Nice Charles - looking forward to the surfer photos
Good catch Joakim.

BTW, I was at the Leica Store in Munich on Friday and asked about their stock... I was interested in looking at the 21 SEM, but they didn't have it... But they do have the WATE, 24 Elmar (2 copies), 28 Cron, 28 Elmarit (2 copies), 35 Cron (2 copies), 50 Cron and 75 Summarit (2 copies). They have a website and will ship internationally... at the moment, the pre-VAT Euro prices are quite attractive... and Leica's prices didn't go up here in the EU like they did in the USA/Canada, making prices here even more attractive... tempted by the 28 Cron... but in a strange way, even more by the WATE...

Ron, good to know! The EVF blackout is what I dislike on these cameras, the 5N included. I'll check out the other thread for the pics. Maybe Leica will announce some nice mirrorless goodies in Sept I agree with you on the simplicity of the M, I shoot manual 100% of the time and don't find it a disadvantage at all. When I tell my friends I shoot faster with the M9 and manual focus over my DSLR (sports excluded), they are always bemused.
