Heinz - nice shots. The Nokton looks great! Great colors
Gregory - nice shots with the 135. I really like the rendering. #1 looks great. I will need to see the size difference between the f/2.8 and f/4 as it seems like yours is a little larger than what I would want
All 35 Lux ASPH
Looking now I should have increased the DOF on this one....but I still like it
LL, you probably won't see much difference on the 50mm or longer lenses but may see improvements on your 24Lux. Anything 35FL or wider should have improvement.
--------
Made a quick test on the 28Cron and 35Lux ASPH which always had red edges. The new firmware definitely corrects the color cast much better on both these lenses.
White wall, manual exposure, WhiBal card, LR3.
28Cron @f/2
Uncoded
Coded
On the old firmware, even with coding, I have red edges wide open. On the new firmware, vignetting is still there but color is now more uniform and warmer compared to the uncoded setting where you can see the funky reds on the left and cyan on the right.
35Lux ASPH v1 @ f/1.4
Uncoded
Coded
Again, uncoded, I had funky reds on left and cyan on right. With the old firmware, I still had reds on the left when coded. The new firmware seems more even although Leica changed the color to be warmer.
Charles, the last image is very good. I will probably also get the Lux 35 II, but I'm still not sure about the 28 Cron. The colors are always really great but the contrast/sharpness/drawing looks quite different compared to lenses like the 21ZE or 25ZM or 24 Elmar and I don't like the huge lens hood of the 28 Cron.
Luka, nice portrait with the 90 AA. I'm very interested to see some more landscape shots with this lens (even on flickr you can't find any).

Thanks. I probably do have some more landscape stuff but to be honest I'm thoroughly bored by everything in the Stockholm region. It's always the same - a bit of water and a bit of forest and everything... flat. I'd kill for some mountains but there are no nearby or within reasonable distance. I'll be soon going to the US on a road trip through the major national parks from Colorado to California, so I expect I'll have some better stuff in the landscape department

Anyone downloaded the new firmware for M9?
Yep. And I made sure to shoot test frames with all my problematic lenses both before and after the firmware update. There are some improvements - especially the UWA Zeiss lenses, but it could have been overall better.
Luka, maybe it has something to do with Wiki leaks and Sweden .. just kidding!
I'm surprised that your 35 Lux ASPH with new firmware shows so much magenta cast. If you look at my test shot, it looks like I have a brand new lens to play with
Yes, the ZM 18 & 25 were the ones that I usually had to use CornerFix with.. The above was by the way a poor way of showing the difference. Here's a better format - open the images in separate tabs and flip between them:
Thanks Heinz I have some Velvia 50 shots of the same scene taken with the Pentax 67 and they are a notch better IMO. I'll post some comparisons in the film thread or the medium format thread.
Luka, the last image is very nice, but I must say, although Velvia was my favored film 10-20 years ago and I shot hundreds of rolls, I now prefer the look of digital files.
By the way does anybody need a film scanner? I still have a Polaroid Sprintscan 4000 that I don't need anymore. Maybe I should try to sell it on Ebay.
