My year long project is going well. I am about 1/4 of my way into the planned year long time frame. My collection of street and environmental portraits keeps growing and I will have a good selection base. I am now going to expand to including more architecture, including details and wide, and the rich historical/artistic culture of Parma. Additionally, like most places in Europe these days there is a meaningful immigrant community. I intend to go more into the neighborhoods these diverse communities occupy and document those people, cultures, and what they bring with them. I feel all these things are needed to accomplish my goal of documenting our new home. You may have noticed this in some of my recent posts. Expect to see some different subject content and style of images in the coming months. Some of these subjects will be new to me photographically so probably lots of experimentation which also means some failure. That is OK by me. I am learning a lot through this process.
It is almost exactly one year ago that the Doctors told my Wife and I that it was probable that I wouldn't survive the massive embolism that developed post surgery. They thought I would likely die in the next 36 hours. Well, that didn't happen. That experience turned out to be a gift in so many ways. One way was to provide the motivation to take this new life adventure on. We decided that 73 years old is too young to let such rebirth opportunities pass.
I hope you all are enjoying sharing the photographic part of the adventure with me. Know that your comments, and yes criticisms, are meaningful and appreciated by me. I am so grateful for this extra time, and the opportunity to share it with my Wife, family, and friends.
