A common occurrence around the World I suppose. This was the first such encounter for me where the Government paid for services, and the provider actually had a Medical degree. I think I may be "softening" my stance on Nationalized Health Care...

Parma has a historical church ever few blocks. Most have frescos painted by Renaissance Masters. Just walking around town is like visiting a museum. It soon starts influencing your life attitude. I can't go out without having one of my leica cameras with me.

I have gotten past my street portrait purchase problem. Had to or I would go broke here in Parma. The women here are amazingly beautiful and they all dress like a fashion show. I suppose relapse is always a risk...
Christmas Eve is cold and rainy here in Parma, Italy. The town is draped in Holiday decoration and the last minute shoppers are still out on force undeterred by the weather. It all adds up to some beautiful photographic opportunities.

We had a storm roll through last night and it caused a 9 hour power outage when an old tree blew over and took out the power lines. Another storm is rolling in late this afternoon. It's a good thing we have a generator.

The shutter on my first M8 lasted all of two weeks. Fortunately, I was in the "return period," and was able to get my money back. This photo was taken with an M8 that I purchased from the Leica Store in the Meat Packing District. It has a new sensor and came with a 12 month warranty. The camera is not a "beauty queen," but looks good and has a young shutter (6200 clicks).
As we all know, the dynamic range of this sensor is closer to Kodachrome 64 than to any CMOS sensor. I have to constantly remind myself to watch both shadows and highlights... When you nail things, you really do get a unique color palette that is reminiscent of slide film.
Shot this evening as the rain began to fall... Lens is a the Voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Color-Skopar PII @ f/9.5
Christmas Eve it rained here in Parma all day and the streets were busy. So, that got me out shooting some umbrella images. I may be so attracted because rain and umbrellas are rare in La Jolla (except I hear this week). Heck, I have never even owned an umbrella of my own before moving here. The one I now have was given to me by a hotel because it was damaged. probably time to go out a buy a good one.
As usual my SL3 and APO-SL Summicron primes is what I shoot when weather is bad. This time I took out the 28mm. They are impervious to rain. I don't even pay attention to how wet they get. They can stand being wetter than me.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the colors and glow that the rain provided. I hope you all enjoy a few of the many images I shot yesterday.
