I went out testing the new 4.0 Firmware on my SL3. So far I am generally pleased. For sure the camera starts up faster and is more responsive in pretty much all function. The AF is is noticeably improved. A number of the shots were shot on moving subjects with only a few missed focus shots. Some of these because the camera choose the wrong subject. There are new options for AF which I have not fully explored yet. I have a feeling there is much more performance to be had once I fully understand the new AF system and options. Still, it is not even close to what I get out of my Sony A1. I have yet to test the Multishot High Resolution mode yet. I am very happy to get this meaningful upgrade.

A couple of images testing the new 4.0 software on my SL3. This time with the 28mm APO-SL prime wide open at f/2.0. I went out at dusk to test how well it performed in low light with moving subject coming straight at me. The camera did an excellent job with AF, subject ID, and tracking. An excellent upgrade.
Another from my 4.0 firmware outing with the 50mm. I saw this beautiful woman having aperitivo at a street table. I asked to take her portrait and as usual I bantered with her a bit to get natural reactions. Turns out she is a Psychologist here in town specializing in sex therapy. I can't imagine. But she also informed me that if the need should arise (or not?) she was part of the National Health Care System so her treatments were 100% covered at no cost to the patient. Italy, what a wonderful Country!

I've met quite a few women in LA who said they specialized in sex therapy. Strangely they all were in town for only a few days.
A coincidence I'm sure.
