I spent all day yesterday doing the thing I like least about my move to Italy. Dealing with the famous Italian bureaucracy. I managed to shoot only two scenes, a total of four shots all day. One was a reflection/through the window shot of a man enjoying himself in a Pasteria located on a small square where they have installed an antique Carousel for the Holiday Season. The other a romantic young couple sitting on the steps of a Church facing the main square.

I hope your bureaucratic nightmare was resolved!
My goals for yesterday were acheived. But the whole issue won't be resolved for a few more Months. This is Italy, everything goes in circles and they have no concept of efficiency.
Leica SL3 with firmware 4.0. Animal eye AF is definitely much improved. Faster, stickier and finds the eye even from a side view. I need to explore this more.

I don't like this. I think this is overrated and too expensive for what it is (this is without the grip but annoyingly not cheaper than with the grip...what?!). It adds Arca Swiss but because they decided to make it thin it adds two problems: 1. the screw hole for non-AS tripods is not standard and requires an additional adapter to use on non-AS tripod; 2. the design makes it a bit cumbersome to get the flip screen out.
it is also not machined precisely, well...at least mine wasn't. the SD door card doesn't open cleanly and occasionally get stuck when opening no matter how many times I re-seat the plate.
Lastly, the screw that came with it is _also_ made of same brittle aluminum. I don't understand this bone-headed decision. while i think some would appreaciate the uniform color, but I don't want that that screw head to snap off if I happen to screw it too tightly.
I'm keeping it for now because the one I really want is always out of stock.
This is the only soft release that works for me...this is the unapologetically overpriced OEM Leica small soft release, the same that I have on my M11.

if ever you feel you're not getting enough likes, just post pics of dogs and I'll be the first one to give a like
Here's one of my monsters I shot yesterday with the camp snap

Seen around town in Parma the last couple of days.
All shot with the pre-firmware 4.0 update and the APO-SL 50mm Summicron. I did the update yesterday and plan on going out and testing with it today.
Wonderful images in Parma! I did the upload yesterday to 4.0 and I like the changes. Faster, stickier AF/Tracking. I too need to test it more but very encouraging.
