I’m so focused on nailing focus, it’s hard for me to also think about posing, what the backgrounds look like, hand placement, etc. My wife is usually there to help, but critical failures aren’t noticed until it’s too late while I’m editing lol. This is definitely one of those areas it just takes practice
Thanks! I agree this is difficult and stressful photography. Those that are experts at it earn their money for sure.
After going back and forth between the more modern Voigtländer 90mm offerings and the Leica Summicron 90mm/f2 (11136), I finally settled on the Leica. And so far I couldn't be happier.
I find it pretty much impossible to nail the focus wide open without EVF, but I was expecting that, so no surprise there. The rendering wide open is perfect for portraits, the micro contrast and global contrast tuning is just spot on. Reminds me a bit of the Sony 85mm/1.4 GM. Unfortunately I didn't ask the "models" for permission yet to post their photos, so only some wide open Danish vegetation on the M240 for now...

I had a bit of trouble with my 90 Cron APO wide open until I sent the M 10 I pretty much leave it on and the lens into Leica to calibrate together. That was several years ago and it has been really good since. I shoot a lot of candids and portraits wide open without any issues.
This the Anchorage Aviation Museum's 1940s Grumman Goose restored to flying status- when a flight is announced it is an event, and there will be observers and photographers- Leica M11P and Leica 135 mm apo 3.4 lens- Lake Hood Float Plane terminal, world's largest and a fabulous airplane photography site.
Although I’ve posted these four images previously, I like them as a group — and have recently added them as a coda to an exhibition project whose main part has 34 images in vertical format, intended for hanging on a long, dark-gray wall. The four photos below, in horizontal format, would be hung on the lateral wall, to complete the exhibition — although I have no idea whether I will ever succeed in getting this project exhibited. With their even tonality and their subject matter, these four photos would serve to pull the exhibition together thematically. You can see a short video of the main part of the exhibition on my Instagram, although that version has had a few changes.
