This is the first two images from the skateboarders jumping rocks set. These guys were very athletic and got a lot of air when jumping. The girlfriend of one was filming video of their antics on her phone.

Yesterday down on the Pacific Beach Boardwalk I stopped to photograph a group of skateboarders jumping the rocks in front of the main Lifeguard Tower. We had a great time as they pushed each other to do more and higher tricks. Before I left, they asked me to do a group shot for them. This is what I got, which I think captures the crew nicely. I choose Monochrome because I felt it best presented "Vibe" of the day. I also didn't level the image because I liked that extra bit of character it gives to the moment. Once again I choose to shoot the VM 21mm Color Skopar all day to help me learn it. This lens requires an different approach, getting closer, and more intimate with the World. It provides an interesting perspective that I do like for street style photography. Still learning, and enjoying the Leica experience.
I will post some of the jumping antics later....Show more →
LOVE this image! Well done for sure. Second from the right looks like Rob Machado. (was there a touch of gray in his beard?) Far right looks familiar too but I can't place it.
*EDIT* - I saw the color image you posted, and I'm going to say no to it being Rob, but sure does look like him.

I am glad you liked the image.
As a life long San Diego surfer, I know Rob, he surfed with my kids. Rob is almost 50 years old. These guys were in their late 20s, early 30s is my guess. The guy who looks like Rob is named Morgan. He told me he is a Cannabis delivery driver. LO!
