Phil, very nice B/W shots. The first one is my favorite.
Nice duck Joe
Charles, excellent capture with the 90 Cron IV. Really nice rendering
KL, great set! The 35 Biogon shot is my favorite.

Joe, we have competition for Luka
Come now, you don't really believe that, do you?
Just a small sample. I've got tons more of ducks!
By the way, they seem to have completed the adjustments of my M9 and it is listed to be shipped today. If there are no more cockups there is a chance I'll get it tomorrow - i.e in time for the trip.
Joe - great shots! I don't think anyone has anything on Luka's collection of ducks!
Luka - love the 90 Cron shots. Dare I say 3D? The colors really pop!
Charles - like the shot with the 90....a little different style than your 35/50 Lux shots but the rendering is very similar
KL - great set! I particularly like #1, #2 and #3. #3 is my favorite, great look with that lens. The flower shot was with the 35 Cron...in fact that whole set was.
Thanks for the comments all...here are a few more from the weekend
Excellent street captures Joe! My favorite is #2. I suspect the shutter on your M9 may be a bit too loud though

Are we all back to status quo at FM now?
Not an easy question. The GetDPI thread is certainly larger and there are some really good photographers there. I find the forum less aesthetically pleasing though - the thread is sort of messy and not improved by people quoting the same images all the time. On the other hand the forum functions (preview before you post) are certainly better.
Plus as I said earlier, this is more of a combined image & discussion thread while the GetDPI one is just an image thread. So I'm guessing I'll stick with this one as my primary thread as I generally like a bit of discussion to go with my images

Exactly!
I also prefer this thread
Ryan and Joe... thanks guys
Ryan, beautiful shots!!! You are working magic with the M8.2
Joe, great set of shots! I love #2 and 3.
Luka, yes I am with you, great resources in both threads, as are LUF and RF forums. I enjoy this thread, as we share our personal journeys and frustrations, and more importantly what we have learned, together with the images. Personally I have learned so much, and I don't think I would be enjoying the M9 on the same level if I did have these resources available.
Recent shots with the 75 Lux at f/1.4, re PP'd differently now in C1 Pro 6.1.1. I learned from my original post, that when I went to print some A3+ prints, that shots did not translate for the intended target, so back to re PPing. For me, the real test is making these larger prints, as I can become lazy when just viewing on the web.
Yes, I should have set the camera on discreet mode on #2. And I probably need a wider glass than the 35
Charles, great shot and capture of light! Also beautiful colors.
I have to say this is a fun thread, getting to know you all, learning about lenses and shooting ducks and benches .. and least I forget, I recall at one point we had someone here who really didn't like the M9
Thanks Kyle Looking forward to your shots when you are back!
I've almost given up on the though of printing my own. Too much work with calibration and inks are pretty expensive. I'm happily using MPix for prints, from my experience they get the colors right most of the time and if its wrong, they will redo it for you. Not sure about experience of others?
Great processing and lovely pictures Joe! SEP2? I am having some second thoughts as I found out you can't revisit a processed file after you 'save' it - seems like a real pity to have all the control points and edits lost and one cannot go backk to do minor tweaks (which I find one of LR3's great strengths).
Kyle, printing is excellent, if you get organized your colour management workflow. It may take some time, but it is sooo worth the investment. The M's have great colour, but WB can be off at times, so it is critical to having a really well calibrated monitor. I use 2 Canon Pro 9500II printers via CS5 with Canon Easy Pro Print with the 16 bit drivers. You can easily have the printers professionally profiled too if needed. I find the colours, are very accurate and is great for any prints up to A3+ size. Using the Canon Easy Pro Print driver within CS5 was based on the advice from the Canon Colour management guru here in Australia, as it is more accurate than printing direct within CS5. If you do wish to print direct, then maybe having ICC profile from a lab may be best. Anything larger I send out to pro labs.
@Charles - love the shots!!! Pls stop posting any more 75 lux shots - i almost bought one recently because of your shots but remained steadfast in light of the continued pursuant of a 50 Lux or 35 Lux (super rare around these parts).
you are quite right Charles. picked up a minty limited edition 50 Cron (chrome) over lunch -i should stop having lunch with this leicaphile friend of mine!
Since I pretty much decided on getting it and since the price was not higher than the list price in the local shops I figured I might at well strike at once. It's a silver one (I would have preferred a black one but who cares), new in box and with a 5 year warranty. Given the short supply of them I don't see what would have been gained by getting it in a local shop.
Another thing that convinced me was that I reviewed some of my 50/1.5 Sonnar images and while it's a lovely portrait lens, it never gets quite good stopped down. Even at f/8 the corners are weak. So I needed a good 50 that is good both wide open and stopped down and the 50 Lux ASPH fits the bill.
I could have bought a used one but they used ones sell for about as much as new ones and they are also impossible to find.
