Yesterday in late afternoon I was relaxing by sitting on a bench near the stairs at the La Jolla Cove. The cool breeze coming straight off the Pacific Ocean welcome in this heat wave we are experiencing.

Of course I had my Leica M with me. I have been coming to this spot for more than 60 years. But had never noticed the shadow theater playing out on the stairs when the Sun was low in late afternoon. This is one of the special things that photography does for its practitioners. It opens eyes to interesting things and light that most miss.

There is a lot of potential in this spot. I was looking for an interesting juxtaposition between the shadow World and the Real World to happen. It didn't get it yesterday. But with work and patience I may one day. Below is the image I liked best from yesterday.

Enjoy.

Just go read the last 10 years or so of Sony users complaining.

Depending on what you are using for your measuring stick, you may get a variety of opinions regarding good enough or I can't tell. But, I think the fact that the counter is omitting the wider lenses is telling into itself that it does in fact make a difference.

While some may regard color shift as the yardstick, others may regard corner sharpness, while others may regard vignetting or acutance.

Just because some folks are okay with some subset of lenses, and some subset of issues ... (imo) that may be faulty logic to suggest there isn't a difference to be gained.

Imo, the better the light path ... the rising tide lifts all boats. This is probably part of the reason you can go "deeper" into the image without it falling apart. Better light path just seems to me to be a preferred option, if I'm bothering to get Leica M lenses.

Deming 101 ... kind of thing.

The micro lenses can be especially useful for wide- and ultra-wide lenses which cause a steeper light refraction angle at the borders and corners of the sensor frame. Kolari's sensor stack modification removes the main culprit seen with rangefinder lenses attached to Sony MLCs. This modification seems fine for the majority of rangefinder lenses used on such Kolari-modified sensor. You will be very challenged to see a difference in the 35-50 mm and higher FL range between just a Kolari-based sensor modification and the same lens attached to a Leica M with micro lenses on the sensor.

It remains unclear

There is nothing better for Leica glass and than a body specifically designed for it and vice versa.

Are the Leica M and even the SL bodies doing something much better than the Sony FF and Canon FF bodies?

I'll look for that article later.
