Yesterday in late afternoon I was relaxing by sitting on a bench near the stairs at the La Jolla Cove. The cool breeze coming straight off the Pacific Ocean welcome in this heat wave we are experiencing.
Of course I has my Leica M with me. I have been coming to this spot for more than 60 years. But had never noticed the shadow theater playing out on the stairs when the Sun was low in late afternoon. This is one of the special things that photography does for its practitioners. It opens eyes to interesting things and light that most miss.
There is a lot of potential in this spot. I was looking for an interesting juxtaposition between the shadow World and the Real World to happen. It didn't get it yesterday. But with work and patience I may one day. Below is the image I liked best from yesterday.
