Thanks Joe, Ron & Charles
Interesting Nokton shot Joe. Ron, love your second series, especially #1, #2, #4, #5 & #6.
Great shots with the 35 Lux John & Charles. I soo regret not buying it when I had the chance when it was in stock. That's some seriously fine rendering.

Joe, tough question. The ZM50/1.5 seems very nice, and I would consider it if I didn't already have the 50 Lux ASPH, but it has field curvature and sometimes pretty wild boke, so personally I prefer the Leica. The Leica is also just one of those all-time great lenses, like the ZF100MP and other top lenses.
Comparing the 50/1.5 Sonnar vs the 50 Lux is very interesting. Same focal length, more or less the same aperture yet as different as two lenses can be. Since both are German lenses, I'd say that the 50 Lux to the 50 Sonnar in rendering style what Thomas Mann is to Friedrich Schiller is in writing style. The Lux produces a much more strict, precise, formal and technical rendering while the 50/1.5 a far more free artistic one. From a pure technical performance point of view the 50 Lux blows the Sonnar away in every department - the latter suffers from every optical aberration known to human kind. And yet, I'd take the Sonnar any day over the Lux. It comes down to personal preference. To use another analogy from literature, the 50 Lux is prose while the 50 Sonnar is poetry.
As I have mentioned previously, the 75 Cron doesn't excite me the same way. It is based on the optical formula usesd for the 50 Lux ASPH, but somehow it feels less special to me, a bit sterile. Ultimately, it is very capable, nothing really wrong with it, but the magic from the 50 is gone, IMO.
I actually agree with you there in essence although not in preference. The 75 Cron is a very netural lens. When it comes to optical aberrations it is close to perfect. Sharpness wide open is good but not as good as for instance the 100 Makro Planar mentioned above. From practical experience, I'd say that it's peak performance is about f/5.6 and the sharpness is first rate. It's a lens that is difficult not to like but also one that is difficult to love. It's nice for portraits and I really like it for B/W images. The 50 Lux is definitely not as netural. It has a personality and a distinct style. Some love it, others don't. I fall into the second category so I prefer the more neutral 75 Cron look.
A couple of shots from the other day:

Finally, for you guys in warmer climates, here is a pile of snow, just for you
