You can't see him there, they like it because the wind blows the snow off and they can graze. Today I brought up the 500/4 with a 1.4x. It was windy with the clouds whipping and I did not think I got anything until I got home:
Hi Werner, did you correct for geometric distortion at all? The samples I've seen from the Vario-Elmar-S have been very impressive in terms of lack of distortion, as is yours.

No correction needed in this one.
So far i am very pleased with the Vario. An excellent lens, i got for an excellent price.
There is a little bit of distortion but even in this geometrical pic not really visible.

Yes that was another issue. Someone I have sold lenses to in the past who chats with me from time to time has a MM9 and they quoted him $5,300 to "upgrade" to the M246. Which I thought was a bit ridiculous since you can get a new M246 for a good price, and the used market for the MM9 is still quite strong. It didn't make sense to me that Leica would want to still pull in such a hefty profit off of something that was their fault. And this corrosion issue happened to him under warranty 8 months new camera (he opted for it over the M246 for his own reasons that are unknown to me). Not even the whole good will "lifetime" warranty they're not offering. ...Show more →
Adam, I've been very surprised at the continued premium price of the MM9 used. I was really expecting the used prices to soften a bit and it simply hasn't happened.
They are building a new bridge near us and today I realized the area was not sealed off as it usually is. So here's a preview of our new bridge S-006 and 70 Summarit

Anyway, wonderful work everyone!
Yes, prices for the MM9 are good. Funny thing, after looking and looking for great deal. I finally got offered a very attractive deal on an MM9, but it was to late I had the M246 already.
No worries anyway, I'll see how the M246 suits me. If I'm not keen on black and white, someone on here will get a good deal on the camera!
